1939 – 2022

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest mother Dr. Violet Wangui Kimui of Varsityville Estate, Ruiru, Kiambu County, on the 15/10/2022. At the time of her transition, she was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully at the MP Shah Hospital.

Born on 18/04/1939, she was the daughter of Eutychus Ndii Thuku and Margaret Wanjiru. She was the mother of the late Edwin Kimui, Dr Helen Mukholi, the late John Ndii, and Margaret Oganda; mother-in-law of Patrick Mukholi and Dr Martin Oganda. She was the beloved grandmother of Jonathan Mukholi, Nkatha Oganda and Wagaki Oganda.

She was the sister of the late Langford Mwangi, Charity Kinyua, the late Joseph Ndirangu, the late Naomi Gachara, Dr. Ayub Kanjau, Blasto Maina, Simon Kagundu, Mary Kariuki, and Minnie Kamau; sister-in-law of Miriam Mwangi, Cyrus Kinyua, James Gachara, Miriam Kanjau, the late Christine Maina, Petronilla Njeri, the late Patrick Kariuki, and the late Jackson Kamau.

Violet was one of the strongest, most courageous, and kindest women and will be greatly missed. She was a wonderful and loving person who gave her all to her family and friends. We will never be able to fill the void left behind by her.

The cortege will leave the MP Shah Hospital at 9,00am on Tuesday 25/10/2022 for the funeral service and subsequent cremation at the Kariokor Hindu Crematorium.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labours, for their deeds follow them!” (Revelation 14:13)
