1957 – 2021
Eugenia, age 64, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2021. She was born in 1957 in Oas Albay, Philippines.
She was married to her best friend, confidant, and soul mate, Gil De Guzman. Eugenia’s laughter was infectious as was her cooking. She loved unconditionally, was an incredible friend, mentor, and advisor. Eugenia worked for the United Nations for 29 years. She gave her life in service and loved her career, her peers, and her work family greatly. She was kind, compassionate, and always forgiving.
Eugenia is survived by her four children and her four incredible grandchildren whom she loved deeply but no one had her heart more than her husband, whom she loved more than life.
May God rest her soul in eternal peace.

So so sad to learn of the passing of Eugenia Riva de Guzman! What a wonderful soul! First met her at the UN when I had gone there to seek some diplomatic services from their office. She was so warm on day 1. Promised to get me “real pearls” from the Philippines (apparently I was wearing fake pearls). True to her word when she next visited home she returned with a beautiful pearl set of a chain, earrings and bracelet and gave them to me as a gift!! Who ever shows such love on day 1 of meeting a stranger. We became good friends, talked occasionally and she introduced me to her son who had just finished college and was looking for an internship. She was so proud of him and his accomplishments. Told me about her family and I promised to one day visit her in the Philippines. How sad it never happened. May God rest your beautiful soul in eternal peace!
Eugenia was definitely everyone’s darling at UN Commercial Operations Unit, Nairobi.
