Appreciation

We the family of the Late Eva Wangui Muchemi (Mama Muchemi) and on behalf of the larger Muchemi and Hungura families together with our in-laws, extend our heartfelt gratitude to all relatives, friends and colleagues for the overwhelming support offered to us during our beloved Mama Muchemi’s hospitalization and treatment, and after her sad demise. Our hearts have been uplifted and comforted by the tremendous number of mails, telephone calls and other social media communications from our family, friends and relatives across the world, communicating their messages of love and encouragement.

We have also received countless tributes in honour of Mama Muchemi from various people including HE. Uhuru Kenyatta CGH, President and Commander in Chief of the Republic of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki CGH. the Third President of the Republic of Kenya, Cabinet Secretaries Hon. James Macharia EGH, Hon Mutahi Kagwe ECH, Hon. Sicily Kariuki EGH, Hon. Amina Mohamed EGH, and the Head of Public Service, Dr Joseph Kinyua EGH as well as many other senior officers in the Public Service. We would also like to thank. Gov. Mutahi Kahiga (Nyeri County), Mr. Michael Joseph (Safaricorn PLC), Mr Joe Ogutu (Chairman, Safaricom Foundation), The Ministry of Health, Mr. & Mrs. S.K. Macharia (Royal Media Services), Mr Maina Wandere (Wanderjoy Partyworld Limited), the Directors and staff of the Kenya Diabetes Management and Information (DMI) Centre, and the very many international and local organizations who Mama Muchemi worked with in the course of her distinguished Diabetes work since 1999, for their invaluable assistance and support.

Special thanks go to the medical team and specialists at the Nairobi Hospital led by Dr Gladwell Kiarie and Dr Eva Njenga including Dr. Christopher Kahuho, (Endicronologist),  Dr. Samuel Gathua (Chest Specialist), Dr Martin Wanyoike (Cardiologist), Prof Paul Kioy (Neurologist), Prof David Olunya (Neurosurgeon), Dr Kairu Githaiga (Hematologist/Pathologist), and Dr. Andrew Gachie (Chief Pathologist, KNH); the doctors and nursing team at the ICU and St Teresa Ward (South Wing) of the Nairobi Hospital for the constant and unwavering kindness and empathy which was accorded to Mama Muchemi during her long periods of hospitalization. Our thanks also go to the doctors and nursing staff at The London Clinic led by Prof. John Gribben, Dr. Jan-Mohammed, and Dr. Michael Porter.

We cannot forget all those countless friends and relatives who came forward to donate blood platelets whenever called upon to do so. We wish to also recognize in a very special way, all those wonderful friends and relatives who tirelessly and generously contributed towards Mama Muchemi’s cost of treatment. You truly gave your all during Mama Muchemi’s hospitalization and funeral arrangements, and we have been greatly humbled by your selflessness and kind concern for us.

Our special appreciation also goes to Rev Njeru Wachira, the Moderator and the congregation of the PCEA Loresho Community Church, the Chair and members of The Women’s Guild, the Chair and members of the PCMF, Eider James Munya and members of Lower Kabete District Fellowship,, Rev Felix Nthia Muriithi, the Moderator of Kimathi Parish and the congregation of Miagayu-ini PCEA Church (Nyeri) for their constant prayers, overwhelming support and visits to the family throughout this journey. Our special gratitude goes to the funeral committees, both in Nairobi, led by Eng Kariuki Muchemi and in Tubania (Nyeri) led by Mr. Ngari Rubia for their great support arid diligence in ensuring that we all gave Mama Muchemi a befitting send-off. Thank you also to Royal Media Services, Trans Media Group, BigEye Ltd, and Fomo TV for their enormous support in enabling our friends and family to condole with us online.

Since it’s not possible to individually thank all the people who selflessly gave to our family in terms of messages of condolence, prayers and most generous financial support throughout this period, we can only humbly request that you accept this acknowledgement as our token of appreciation.
