With sorrow and thanks giving we announce the death of H.E. Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) John Malan Sawe, 6th Commander the Kenya Army and Deputy Chief of the General Staff, former Ambassador to Canada and Israel, on Thursday September 13, 2018.

Lt. Gen. Sawe was the son of the late Chebii Sawe and Shakwei Chebii. He was the brother to the Late Kiplagat Sawe, tWIN to Benjamin Kiprono, Perisi Chepkairor, Tamurei Kandie and the Late Florence Ruto.

Son in-law to the Late Seii Kandie & Targok Seii of Yatiane Village, and the Late Paul & Naomi Mbinda of Kangundo.

Husband of Mary and Rose Sawe.

Father & Father in-law to the Late Rael & Late Dr. Kimitei Kamar, Late lieutenant (Rtd.) Peter & Dinah Sawe, Susan & Joshua Korir, Joan, Late Margaret & Nobert Omondi, Sally, Shakwei & Walter Mbindyo, Beatrice, Tony, Nicholas & Monica Sawe, Maj (RTD) Eileen & Hezron Ripko, and Kiptoo. In-law to the Kamar’s, Tororei’s, Birgen’s, Omondi’s, Mbindyo’s, Ngobiro’s and Ripko’s.

Grandfather to Lucy, Caroline, Patrick, Dr. Janet, Anthony, Wendy, Sandra, Ted, Cheryl, Trevor, Tatiana, Melan, Faith, Andrew, Clarissa, Allan, Alicia, Alex, Malan Kaya, and Malan Charles.

Great Grandfather to 14 wonderful children. Uncle to many.

Meetings are being held daily at his Kaptagat Farm and his Eldoret Town Residence.

There will be a requiem mass at the Eldoret Cathedral on Friday 28 September at 10.00am.

The funeral will be at his Kaptagat Farm on Saturday 29 September starting at 10.00am.
