Gratitude

We the family of Hon. Benson Ogero Kegoro, MP (HSC), are grateful to the Almighty God for a long, healthy life during which he lived with great honesty, touching the lives of many, Many, people with acts of selflessness, kindness and empathy.

We are sincerely grateful to all friends, family and relatives who supported us during the very difficult time of our bereavement. We are immensely grateful to all of you for your love, kindness, prayers, Presence, messages of sympathy and generous financial support, which enabled us to honour our departed father with a befitting final farewell.

Our special gratitude goes to Prime Minister the Right Hon. Raila Odinga for standing with our family during this difficult time as well as the Deputy Leader of the Azimio Coalition, Hon. Martha Karua and the former Kakamega Governor, Wycliff Oparanya.

We would also like to thank leaders from the East Africa region who stood with us. The Hon. Ww. Dr. Kiiza Besigye and Hon. Wafula Ogutu, made a long trip from Kampala, Uganda, to attend the funeral in Nyamira; the leader of ACT Wazalendo in Tanzania, Hon. Zitto Kabwe, the leader of CHADEMA Tundu Lissu and its Secretary General John Mnyika and the leader of Burundi’s CNL,Agathon Rwasa, all stood with our family.

The Governor of Nyamira County, H.E.Amos Nyaribo and his government extended many kind gestures of support and kindness. Leaders from the national government supported us including at the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, the Finance Permanent Secretary, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Korir Sing’oei, the Solicitor General Shadrack Mose.

The Governor of Kisii County, H.E. Simba Arati, the Senator of Nyamira County, Hon. Okong’o Omogeni, former Senator of Kisii County, Hon. Sam Ongeri, the MP for West Mugirango Hon. the Steve Mogaka, the MP for Borabu Hon. Patrick Osero, the Members of Parliament and other of leaders from Nyamira and Kisii Counties, all stood with our family. We

We would also like to thank Diana Gichengo, Stella Ndirangu, George Morara and Cyprian Nyamwamu on behalf of the team of civil leaders that they led, and the Board of the Kenya Human Rights Commission. Special mention goes to leaders and staff members of the Open Society Foundations who also generously supported our family.

We are greatly indebted to the leadership of the Nyamira Conference of the SDA Church which presided over funeral service, especially to Pastors Gerald Mochoge Pastors Timothy Guto and Sammy Aloo, We thank the Gusii Elders Council and the Bosamaro Elders Council who gave companionship to our father while he lived and stood with us when he passed away.

We thank the funeral committees in Nairobi led by the Chair of the National Land Commission Otachi Omanwa and in Kisii by Nyabuti Omwamba who worked so hard in coordinating the funeral arrangements.

We thank the media which covered our father’s life and death with so much compassion.

As it is impossible to thank individually all those who supported us in various ways, we request that this notice be accepted as our humble and sincere expression of gratitude and appreciation.
