James was a father figure to me and many, mentor and boss for the short stint I worked at his Lake Publishers and Enterprises firm, a small literary publishing House in Kisumu where I served as an editor. A jolly personality and a strong family man. Deeply religious and a great manager who was grounded on personnel matters. His humour was unrivalled. On many occasions people mistook him for being Asenath Odaga his wife and he wittingly corrected them. Himself a distingushed author on personnel management matters, James goes down with a wealth of knowledge that Kenya never put to use. Together with Mama Asenath Bole Odaga I was nurtured well. He never missed church on Sunday. Go thee well great man. To Adhiambo and Ruth please carry on the legacy of James and Asenath. Kindly digitize their literary works and immortalize them. Be blessed.
