It is with profound sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of John Chege Gitau, which occurred on 9th August, 2022 after a short illness at Othaya Level 6 Hospital.

Son of the late Margaret Wanjiru Gitau and the late Paul Gitau Kinuthia. Step-son to the late Margaret Wanjiku Gitau. Son-in-law to the late Paul K. Muceke and the late Milka Wahito Kimindi.

Loving Husband to Elizabeth Nyambura Chege and Father to Benson Gitau Chege, the late Cecilia Wanjiru, Milka Wahito, Susan Wanjiku, Beatrice Wamuhu, Teresia Wanjiku, Edward Kangethe and Michael Chege.

Brother to the late Jane Wanjiku, the late Michael Kinuthia Gitau, Joseph Kibugi Gitau and Rebecca Nyakinyua Mwangi. Step-brother to the late Francis Mwangi Gitau, the late Jane Nyakinyua Thuku, Mary Waithira Gitau, Hilary Maina Gitau, Charles Kibugi Gitau and the late Susan Muthoni Gitau. He is survived by several Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers at John Chege’s home, near Kambirwa Centre on the roadside to Muthigiriri School and at Everbest Hotel – KahawaWest, daily starting from 6.00pm.

There will be a requiem mass at John Chege’s Home on Sunday 14th August, 2022 from 2.00pm.

The cortege will leave Murang’a County Mortuary at 8.00am for the family home. Funeral service and burial is scheduled to take place on 18th August, 2022 at Kambirwa’s Family Home, from 10.00am.
