KATHLEEN MURUGU & FREDAH MURUGU

It is with extremely heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the tragic deaths of beloved sisters Kathleen (Kay/Kathy) Nkatha Murugu on December 27,2023, and her sister Fredah (Dido) Kinanu Murugu on Dec 29,2023, which both occurred in Kenya.

Kathleen and Fredah were the eldest and second-eldest daughters respectively, of the late Mr Solomon Kungania Murugu and the late Mrs. Emily Wanja Murugu_.

Kathleen Murugu was based in Washington, DC (USA) and is the loving mother to Gwendolyn Mwarania Murugu, the late Bobby King Murugu and Maken1 Murugu (all of USA). and mother-in-law to Seth Addae (USA).

Fredah Murugu was based in Kenya and was the partner to Samuel Magati, and loving mother to Raymond (Roy) Muriuki, Xenia (Kari) Wangari, Eli Mutethia (all of Kenya), and Zoe (Sherrie) Njeri (Australia).

Kathleen and Fredah were sisters to the late Raymond Murithi, Andrew Kimathi Murugu (Kenya), the late Alfred Murugu, Edith Murugu (Kenya), Juliette Murugu (Kenya), the late Robert Gitonga, Jane Anne & Hiram Kiragu (USA), June Carol & Albert Sasu (USA) and Yvonne Murugu (USA), and stepsisters to Filbert Kendi and Wilson Mugambi.

Kathleen and Fredah were beloved aunties to Marie-Louise, Irene, Jesse, Virginia, Penelope, Shaquille, Meikan, Kenani Keith and Marianne Starr, and great-aunts to Aurora, Mutwiri X. Patrick.

Kathy and Fredah were the rock of the Murugu family as the two eldest sisters, and were close in age and in heart.

Funeral arrangements are ongoing and the burial date will be announced later.
