Leslie George Betawa Mwachiro

15 May 1946 – 5th May 2021

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Leslie George Betawa Mwachiro on 5th May 2021 following a short and sudden illness.

Son of the late George Henry Bembao Tawa Mwachiro and the late Alice Kwekwe Membao Mwachiro. Husband to Jemima Komora Mwachiro and former husband to Betty Lulu Mbotela. Father to Herbert Tawa, Kevin, Mark and Nicholas. Father in-law to Anna-Marie Mwachiro. Doting grandfather to Betawa and Bekote Mwachiro.

Brother to the late Harry Mbao, late Priscilla Mjeni, the late Jeremiah John Tawa, the late Benjamin Bekote, the late Mercy Kibibi, Gertrude Umazi, the late Harriet Mnyazi, Geoffrey Bemwanduka and Sophia Dzame. Cousin to Norman Mjambili, Asha Mohamed (Betty) Gunda, the late Lewis Mkando, Frank Mwambaji, Leonard Nzaka, the late Serail Gibson, Anna Monje and Begonja Sindo among others.

Brother in-law to the late Priscilla Kadzo (Mama), George Nyanje, Josephine Tawa, Julius Saha, Robinson Ruwa, Dennis Dena, the late Sarah Kadogo, Kenneth and Naomi Komora, Sheila and Said Rama. As well in-law to Leonard Mambo Mbotela and Alice Mbotela, the late George and Catherine Mbotela, Donald and Mary Mbotela, Monica and the late Joe Galiwango, the late Pauline Mbotela, Irene and Andrew Kilimatinde, Nancy and Eric Mnene, Caroline Mbotela, Paul Mbotela, Joy Juma, and the late Judy Gow. Loving uncle to many nephews and nieces. He was a man of the people.

Funeral planning and fundraising meetings will take place at the Public Service Club, on Monday 10th May, Tuesday 11th May and Wednesday 12th May from 4-7 pm.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday 13th May at All Saints Cathedral at 12 noon. On Friday 14th May the cortege will leave Montezuma Funeral Home at 5am to JKIA for airlifting to Mombasa.

On Saturday 15th May there will be a church service led by the St Paul’s Church clergy from 10 am followed by a burial ceremony at the family home, Mwele village, Rabai Kilifi County. In line with Government COVID- 19 restrictions will be strictly adhered to. Accordingly, only family and close friends will access the church and family home. The funeral services and burial will be on live stream.
