Mama Cathorina Atieno Mbai

It’s with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mama Cathorina Atieno Mbai of Kochia Central Location, Kowili Sub Location, Homa Bay County which occurred on 18th February 2020 at Avenue Hospital, Kisumu.

Wife to the late Maurice Mbai Obonyo, daughter to the late Mzee Ibrahim Awuondo and Mrs. Magdaline Awuondo of Nyakach Koguta. Mother to the late Dr. Chrispin Odhiambo Mbai (UON), Donal Mbai, Lt. Col. Raymond Mbai (Rtd), Gerald Mbai, Mary Muta, Francis Mbai and Beatrice Ahosi. Her step children are Alsalmus Jomo, Ronald Kennedy, Clement Otieno, Martin Ochieng’, George Ochieng, Emily Apiyo, Chrispine Odongo, Mary Akinyi, Saline Ayo, Judith Mbai, Irene Achiel, Kiprono Mbai, Florence Akinyi, Cherotich, the late Joan Cherono and Tofil Omondi.

Mother-in-law to Margaret Odhiambo, Jacinta Aduor, Pamella Odoyo, Juliata Ochieng, Beatrice Onyango, Judith Jomo, Hellen Otieno, Jane Otieno, Nancy Otieno and Emma Ochieng. Co-wife to Rose Mbai, Isabella Mbai and the late Anne Mbai. Sister-in-law to Anastacia, Peres, Ruth, May, Adhiambo, Scolastica and the late Consolata Odumbe, the late Eunice Odumbe, the late Getrude, Rebecca, Roda, Sara, Magdaline, Risper, Leonora and Petronila.

She was sister-in-law to Jin Jaleny Muombo, Chrispine Obonyo, Anayo Austine, Faleny Nyachiri and the late Casmir Odumbe, Chrisantus Omanya, Pasicus Mageto, Joseph Awuor, Anton Omingo, Nicholas Ananyo, Silvester Ogogo,Arnold Nyaidho, Parkom Abuka, Orinda, Omanya and many others. She leaves behind 32 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

The cortege leaves Kisumu on 5th March 2020.The funeral service will be held at St Arnold Nyalieng’a Catholic Church, and thereafter she will be laid to rest at her home in Amoso Village, Kochia Central Location, Homa Bay County.
