The family of Canon Hesbon Shimei Nyong’o of Ratta Village, Seme, Kisumu County, sadly announces the passing on of their beloved matriarch Mama Dorka Owino Nyong’o on May 28th, 2019.
She was the loving wife of Canon Hesbon Shimei Nyong’o. Mother of Mary & Zed Owiti, Samuel & Dr. Juliana Otieno, Prof. Aggrey Omondi & Dr. Jean Turkish, Prof. Peter Anyang’ & Dorothy, Margaret Awuor & Dick Opiyo, Susan & Eng Joel Mudhune, Hilda Adhiambo, Charles Anam, Judith Akoth, Esther Achieng’ and Dr. Nyagoy & Marc Bloch.
She was blessed with 36 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Mama Dorka was a passionate member of the ACK Mothers’ Union from St. Paul’s Church, Ratta Parish, spending decades supporting the church and its projects including a hostel for disadvantaged girls.
An ardent farmer, she tilled her shamba tirelessly to support her husband in educating all her children and extended family.
Family and friends are invited for prayers and fundraising on June 5th at 5:30pm and on June 6th at 5:00pm at the All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi.
Funeral Services will be held as follows:
Monday, June 10th at 12pm: All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi.
Wednesday, June 12th at 10am: St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Kisumu
Thursday, June 13th at 10am: St, Paul’s ACK Church Ratta, Seme.
Friday, June 14th at 10am: burial service in Ratta, Seme.
