It is with profound sadness and with humble acceptance that we announce the death of our beloved Marata Gathoni Gichimu on 17/10/2020 at KUTRRH after a long illness.

Beloved wife to Major Rtd. Joseph Gichimu Wambugu (Chairman of Gikondi Housing Enterprises). Loving mother to JP Wambugu (Vision Stars Academy), Lucy Nyambura Kagai, Francis Karuri (USA), Julius Peter Migwi (Paradise), Hannah Wangui (Wamukina), Monica Wambui, Duncan Ndegwa (Wagathoni), Silas Mureithi (Mteja) and Gabriel Gachuru (GG). Mother-in-law to Jane Wambugu (National Treasury), Pastor Joseph Kagai, the late Lucy Njambi, Joyce Nyokabi, Benson Njuguna, Arthur Wagana, Naomi Waithera and Jennifer Mutinda. Sister to late Duncan Ndegwa, Gabriel, Paulo, Late Mwangi and Jane Mungai (Prisons). Grandmother to Wanjiru, Wambui (USA), Stella, Betty, Eric (China), Elsie, Martha, Jim, Abbey, Ashley, Janet, Pauline, Lewis, Victor, Mark, Tamara, Njoroge, Wangui, Joseph, Mukina, lssac, Anthony, Angel, Nataliah, Kellen, Precious and many more. Great grandmother to Quincy, Whitney, Jayson and Jaden.

Due to COVID guidelines, close friends and relatives are meeting for burial plans at Abbey Hotel, Swara Hall 4th floor, Gaberone Road (Opposite Malindi Dishes Restaurant) off Luthuli Avenue from 6.00 p.m to 8.00pm everyday from 19/10/2020 to 22/10/2020.

The cortege leaves KUTRRH Memorial Funeral Home on Friday 23/10/2020 at 7.00 a.m for mass at Gikondi Catholic Parish in Mukurweini. Thereafter burial will take place at her Kabii farm at Gikondi in Mukurweini, Nyeri County.
