Martha Muthoni Ruiru

1917 – 2020

It is with humble acceptance of God’s Will that we announce the passing on of a matriarch, a woman steadfast in faith, Mum, Cucu and Maitu, Martha Muthoni Ruiru. She rested peacefully on Friday, 9 October 2020 aged 103 years.

Daughter of the late Kimani Mwangi & the late Nyokabi Kimani and a sister of the late Danson Mwangi. Wife of the late Erastus Ruiru Keru with whom they were blessed with 12 children. Mother of Hellen Njeri & the late Simon Kinuthia, Grace Nyokabi Ng’ang’a & the late Peter Ng’ang’a Ngang’ira, the late Jane Wahu & the late Washington Wachira, Eunice Wairimu & Githinji Njihia, the late Susan Wangari & the late Muthotho lkenye, Miriam Ngunu & Alex Ngunu, Dorcas Muiyuro & Francis Muiyuro, John Waweru & Esther Muthoni, the late Nelson Kimani & the late Gathoni Waigi, the late Priscilla Mugure & John Karuga, Stephen Kariuki & Anne Waithira and Danson Mwangi & Maria Njeri. Cucu was blessed with 66 grandchildren. Great-grandmother of over 100 and Great-great grandmother of many. She was a spiritual mother and mentor to many.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Funeral Home on Thursday, 15 October 2020 at 6:30a.m. for a funeral service to be held at AIPCA Church, Wanyororo B, in Nakuru County at 11:00 a.m. This will be followed by a private family interment at the family home, also in Nakuru county. The service and interment will be strictly in compliance with the GOK guidelines and protocols on COVID -19.
