We humbly accept God’s will as we announce the death of Mwalimu Abel Gitonga Chege who hailed from Mirangine Scheme, Ol Kalou Sub-county in Nyandarua County.

Son of the late Joram Chege and the late Phylis Wangari. Loving husband of Josephine Wanjiru Gitonga. Brother of Isaac Rugu, the late Wairimu Kiragu, the late Wangui Kamau and the late Margaret Wanjiru Sospeter.

Father of Eng. Stephen C. Gitonga (State Department of Public Works) & Joyce Chege (Kiambu CPSB), Susan Wangari & H.E. Ferdinard Waititu (Former Governor, Kiambu County), Dr. Josphat Macharia and Judy Macharia (United Kingdom), Mercy Watiri (NCWSC) & Michael Njuguna (Kamemo School) and the late Simon Rugu.

Grandfather of Sheila Wanjiru, Glen Gitonga, Dr. Monica Njeri & Dr. Ryan Nyotu, Josephine Wanjiru, Brian Waititu, Diana Wangoko, Alexis Watiri, Layla Wanjiru, Louie Gitonga, John Njuguna, lan Gitonga, Joyline Wanjiru and Grace Wanjiru.

Great-grandfather of Enzi Gitau Nyotu and Uncle of many.

Family and friends are meeting daily from 5.30pm at his home in Mirangine for burial preparations.

The cortege leaves J.M. Kariuki Funeral Home on Tuesday, 2nd April 2024, at 8:00am. Burial service and interment will be at his home in Mirangine Scheme.
