It’s with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Mzee Joel A. A. Wabuti (Mwalimu), on Sunday 21st May, 2023 at the Eldoret Hospital.

Son of the late Absalom Abuti and Julia Amboka. Son-in-law of the late Festus Ikocheli and Roselida Ikocheli.

Beloved husband to Doris Vilinga Wabuti. Loving father to Julia Joan Amboka, Francis Kulali Abuti, Boniface Festus Ikocheli Wabuti and Justus Abuko Wabuti. Father-in-law to Samuel M Njenga, Saum Abdalla and the late Marion Waweru.

Grandfather to Peter Njenga, Kimberly Njeri, Harvey Wabuti, Olive Nduta, Kourtney Abuko, Precious Njenga, Hazel Vilinga, Romelle Abuko and Stephanie Wargo.

Brother to the late Hellena Ombonya, Grace Ambani,Wycliffe Shitandi.

Brother-in-law to Rose Nelima Shitandi, Mary Swinny Samboja, Eric Indako Ikocheli and the late Christabei Masitsa Oloo.

Uncle to Prof. Anakalo, Jerida, Antony, Granton Samboja (former Governor Taita Taveta), Sylvia, Festus, among others.

The cortege leaves Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Farewell Home on Friday 2nd June, 2023 at 9:00am for a memorial service at St Paul’s ACK Church – Kidiwa, starting at 10:30am. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, 3rd June, 2023 at lvugwi Secondary School, from 9:00am followed by burial at his home in lvugwi Village, Soy, Likuyani Sub-county, Kakamega County.
