Celebration of a Patriarch

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Mzee Julius Gachiri Wamweya, which occurred on 2nd March, 2022.

He was the cherished husband of Esther Mwihaki Gachiri.

He was brother to the late William Mugo Wamweya, the late Lucy Wanjiru Wamweya and Esther Wanjiku Wamweya.

He was the caring father of Mary Wambui Mwaura, Dr Joyce Gachiri Chakaya, Peter Gachiri, the late Lucy Wanjiru, Jane Gachiri – Itela (The Safari Collections), Dr Wilson Gachiri (Rwanda), Thomas Gachiri (MFI International – Dubai), Catherine Wanjiku, Albert Gachiri (CGTN Africa), William Gachiri (USA) and Kevin Gachiri (Kampala).

He was a father-in-law to Mwaura Wambugu, Dr Jeremiah Chakaya, Steve Itela, Jane Wamweya-Njenga, Tabitha Karanja-Mariku, Teresia Muiruri-Mburu, Anne Ng’ang’a-Obina and Esther Mugo-Baru.

He was a grandfather and great grandfather to many scions of the Gachiri family. And uncle and great uncle to many more.

The cortege will leave Montezuma Funeral Home, along Thika-Murang’a Highway, on 11th March 2022 at 9am, to be followed by the Funeral Service at Karugia Primary School.

The burial ceremony will be at his Karugia home.

Friends and family are meeting daily at his home in Karugia village, Gaichanjiru Location, Kandara Division, Murang’a County.
