APPRECIATION 

12-09-1968 – 27-04-2020

The family of the late Prof. Lillian Katunge Kaviti would like to extend its deepest thanks and appreciation for the prayers, support, kind wishes and helpful hands during the short illness and sudden passing of Lillian on 27th April, 2020. So many friends, colleagues, extended family members and organizations from all over the world reached out to provide their support, and we wish to acknowledge and express our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you.

Despite the unusual circumstances faced during this time in consideration of the strict Government regulations regarding movement and limited gatherings, we would like to thank all those who came to our side virtually and physically in extending their Love, even if from a distance, during the passing and laying to rest of Lillian on May 2nd, 2020.

We would like to especially recognize The Nairobi Baptist Church Pastoral team and Congregation, led by Rev. Calisto Odede, Rev. Fraltystone Omusula, Rev Majid Ochieng, Pastor  Kande, Pastor Pinto Kali, Pastor Ken Ochola, amongst several other pastors from other churches, as well as members of the Riara Road Home Group Fellowship. You held us up in ways that only reminded us that the Lord is our Anchor in these times.

We also appreciate the warm and dedicated support of the University of Nairobi under the leadership of VC Prof Kiama Gitahi and members of the Department of Linguistics and Language including Prof Ephraim Wahome (Dean of Faculty of Arts), Prof Jane Ngala (Chair, Dept of Linguistics), Prof Pete Wasamba, Dr Maloba Wekesa, Dr Fred Atoh, Dr Jane Wambui and Dr Alex Wanjala, amongst others.

We would also like to pay special acknowledgement to Dr Pius Kigamwa, Dr Theresa Mwendwa and the medical team at the Aga Khan University Hospital who worked tirelessly around Lillian in her final moments.

We particularly appreciated the Love and support we received from Mbaa Kithuku, the Mweu Family and the wider Mbaa Nguli, University of Nairobi Alumni, Kenya High School Alumni, Kilimani Primary School Alumni and all Lillian’s close friends, relatives and colleagues from all over the world: a testament to the warmth she radiated towards so many people over the years.

At our most difficult moment you prayed for us, cheered us up, gave your time, your hands, your voices. your financial support and friendship. Thank you.

Friends, Family, Colleagues from all over, we may have missed a name or two, but we are humbled by your unselfish and kind support and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Lillian is now together and rejoicing with her father, the late Dr. Jason Kaviti, and her brother the Late Fredrick Kaviti.Seated and celebrating with the angels in the presence of their Maker.

From Lillan’s mother, Sarah, sister Rosemary, daughter Wawira, niece Wavinya and the entire Kaviti and Mweu Family.
