Professor Gichuru Muriuki EBS, OGW, PHD
We announce the death of Professor Gichuru Muriuki which occurred on 15th July, 2019 in Nairobi Hospital following a long illness bravely borne.
He was a long serving Professor (Rtd) of Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy at the School of Pharmacy – University of Nairobi, Chairman and Fellow of The Pharmaceutical Association of Consultants and Trainers, Inaugural Chief Examiner of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board Kenya on evaluation and examinations of professional personnel, Founder member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya and Member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
He was the firstborn son of Benson Muriuki and Molly Wanjiku (both deceased) and brother to Priscilla Nyawira and James Mwaniki (deceased). He was husband to commissioner (Rtd) Charity Wairimu Gichuru (HSC) of the Teachers Service Commission and father to Muriuki, Ndeng’era and Nyambura, Mwaniki, Muriithi and Timothy Muriuki. He was grandfather to Gabriella Wairimu and Jeremiah Itimu.
Relatives and friends will be meeting at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi on Thursday 18th, Friday 19th, Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd July 2019 from 5pm for funeral arrangements.
The burial will be on Wednesday, 24th July 2019 at his Gatondo home in Karatina, Nyeri County. The funeral procession will depart from Lee Funeral Home at 7am. Guests are requested to be seated at the home by 10am for service and final burial rites.
