Professor Philip Gichonge Ngunjiri

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Professor Philip Gichonge Ngunjiri, who breathed his last on 4th May, 2022 at the MP Shah Hospital after a long illness bravely borne.

Until his demise, Prof. Ngunjiri was an Associate Professor in the department of Landscape and Architecture, School of Architecture and Building Sciences of The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and a Managing Partner at the Conte Design Company.

Son of the late Ngunjiri Gitari and the late Nyambura Ngunjiri. Son-in-law to the late Stanley Wang’ombe and the late Hannah Wang’ombe. A devoted husband to Agnes Wanjiku Gichonge. Loving father to Emma Nyambura, Mercy Kagure and Stephen Ngunjiri. Grandfather to Selah Wanjiku.

Brother to Veronica Nyaguthii Gathai & Andrew Gathai, Joseph Gitahi Ngunjiri & Lydia Kirigo Gitahi, Duncan Machira Ngunjiri & Grace Gathoni Machira and Edward Irungu Ngunjiri & Nancy Munjiru Irungu. An uncle, nephew, mentor, colleague and friend to many.

The cortege will leave the MP-Shah Hospital at 8:00am on Friday 13th May, 2022 for a Holy Mass at The Presentation of Our Lord Catholic Church – Juja Farm. His final resting place will be at his home in Juja Farm, Kiambu County.
