When I was a young woman in my 20’s Rev. Vaughn Chamness from my church, University Presbyterian in Seattle, WA, USA, arranged for me to spend a few days in Kenya which included staying in the home of Samuel & Edith Pulei. I was en route to Durban, South Africa, to serve on the staff of the first Billy Graham meeting held in that country, because it was allowed to be multiracial.
Many memories from that trip have faded in the 50+ years since, but I certainly remember Samuel. He made me feel at home, gave me a personal tour of Olooseos & the improvements the Grindalls had made in the area for the Maasai. I have just finished reading “The Accidental Missionaries,” the story of the Grindalls coming to Maasai country, partnering with Samuel, & changing the lives of countless Maasai. Praise God on High for His marvelous works to the children of man! Clearly He called and equipped His choice helpers in a remote and difficult place, but deeply loved and known by the Lord.
