Samuel Mukembu Gichunge Laichena

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Samuel Mukembu Gichunge Laichena.

He was son to the late Laichena Kirera and the late Matiira Laichena and stepson to Ciomunoru Laichena of Mwiyo village, Kithare sublocation, Muringene location, Igembe Central Subcounty, Meru County. He was husband to Joy Christine Makena of Kathathene Primary School. He was father of Dennis Muchena Gichunge of County Government of Meru, and Sifa Marion Mukembu of Kenyatta University. He was grandfather to Myles Muthomi Muchena.

He was brother to: Rebecca Mukoru Mucheke, Charity Kariamburi Baitirithia, Monica Kaririki Kathembere, Late Henry Ngore, Elias Borona, Beatrice Matundu Kaberia, George Mung’athia, Late Bridget Inombaabu,Winfred Karau, Irene Kobia, Late Winston Mbiti, Cecilia Pozi, Catherine Mueungi, Livingstone Mwongela, Pastor Jacob Laichena and the late Christine Kagwiria. He was son in law to Marion Kamami Munoru (MAKAMU PLAZA). He was brother in law to the late John Kimathi, Gerald Mwiti, Morris Gitonga. He was inlaw to Late Isaiah, Rael Kabutia, Late Meeme, Penina Munoru (UN), Mary (Mama Roho safi), Laban Kairira, Jacob Munoru and Zipporah Kawira.

Burial committee meetings are being held daily at his Maili Tatu home from 4:30 to 6:30 pm and Midland Hotel Maua from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

The cortege leaves Maua Methodist Hospital Mortuary on Tuesday 16th March 2021 at 10:00 am. Burial service shall be held at St Joseph’s Methodist Church Maua starting 11:00 am. Later, the body will be laid to rest at his Maili Tatu home.
