It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mama Sophia Kwamboka Omwenga on 29th September, 2020 at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi.

Wife of Christopher Omwenga and daughter of the late Christopher Ongau & the late Abigail Kemunto Ongau. Mother of Grace Omanga (Kenya Power), Karen Bichage (Canada), Beatrice Ochogo (Britain), Bernard Omwenga (Ministry of Energy), Gilbert Omwenga (Action Against Hunger) and Jackline Omwenga (UNOPS). Daughter in law to the late Ongaki Kinara and the late Bonareri Boyani. Sister to lsaack Oyugi, Mary Miyogo, Teresa Mose, Jane Harun, Joyce Ong’au and Willy lsanda, the late Moses Ong’au, Fredrick Masongo, Henry Mwagi among others. Grandmother to Ashley & Alvin Omanga, Tyler & Zeena Bichage, Jasmine & Ethan Ochogo and Jabali Ogeto.

Mother in law to Dr. John Kennedy Omanga, Charles Bichage and Collins Ochogo. Aunt to the Oyugis, Miyogos, Moses, Haruns, Isandas, Bogonkos, Onkwares, Ogetos, Kibwages, Omwengas, Ombotos, Kinaras amongst others. Sister in law toYunuke Oyugi, Janet Isanda, Mosiara Mauti, Kemunto Onkware, Elias Miyogo, Evans Mose, Harun Maranga, Omboto, the late Dr. & Mrs. Clement Omwenga, the late Onkware, the late Kibwage, the late Ogeto. Korera to Clare, Grace and the late Hon. Andrew Omanga, the late Esther & the late Thomas Nyakundi, Margaret and Joseph Otiwu.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, 8th October, 2020 at the New Life SDA Church at 5th Ngong Avenue from 8am.

Mama will be laid to rest on Friday, 9th October, 2020 at her home in Nyaura Village, near Moindi River bank SDA Church in Kisii County.
