Washington Jakoyo Midiwo

We regret to announce the passing away of Washington Jakoyo Midiwo. He was Member of Parliament for Gem Constituency, Siaya County between 2002 and 2017.

He was the son of Samson Midiwo and Margaret Waringa Midiwo (both deceased), brother of the late Festus Odima Midiwo, the late Julia Okwero, Professor Jacob Ogweno Midiwo, the late Jennifer Akinyi, Aoko Midiwo-Odembo, Dr. George Jalang’o Midiwo and the late Pamela Akoth.

He was Married to Betty Muganda and Dr. Rose Olayo. He was the father of Allan, Linda, Sam and Justo.

Brother-in-law to the Mugandas of Ugenya and Olayos of Gem Anyiko. He was brother-in-law to Eng. Edwin Owino Okwero, the late Janet Midiwo, Maj. Sammy Matara, Amb. Elkanah Odembo, Kim Jalang’o and Allan Osoro. Nephew of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Mary Juma Odinga, Wilson Ating’a, Mzee Diang’a, Dalmas Ogutu (all deceased). He was cousin to all grandchildren of Miriam Osiro Odima, including Dr. Oburu Odinga, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, Job Onduso Ating’a, the Diang’as and the Ogutus.

He died from Acute Renal Failure on Monday 14th June 2021.

There will be a fundraising to offset funeral expenses on Tuesday 22nd June, 2021, from 5:00PM at Trinity Hall in All Saint’s Cathedral.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday 24th June, 2021, from 12noon at CITAM Valley Road.

The Burial Service will held on Saturday 26th June 2021 at Ndori School in Mabinju Village, Gem Constituency, Siaya County. Covid-19 Protocols will be strictly observed.
