He was the son of late Esau Chunguli and the late Florence Kageha from Vihiga County.

He was beloved husband of the late Esther Mwangi. He was a loving father of Oprah Kekoi and Faith Kageha.

Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers at his home in Luduguyu Village.

The cortege will leave Kenyatta National Hospital Mortuary on Thursday, 8th May 2025, for an overnight stay at his home. Burial service will be held on Saturday, 10th May 2025, in Mbale, Vihiga County.

She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Kiiru Wandira (Stain), and daughter of the late Peter Mbauni Mungaratu and the late Mary Wambui Mbauni. She was a devoted mother of Eric Wandira, Eddie Mbauni (Canada), and Tony Mungaratu (USA); sister of Munyiri, Rahab, Elizabeth, the late James, and Cyrus; and step-sister of Leonard, Hannah, Elizabeth, the late Muthoni, and Jemimah.

Salome was daughter-in-law of Nimrod and Rhodah Wandira, and sister-in-law of Gladys, Esther, the late Mary, Benson, Ng’ang’a, Kamau, Muthoni, Gachuga, Gachuru, Wathanu, and Waruguru. She was a cherished grandmother of Jayderi and Jazmine Mungaratu.

A memorial service and fundraising will be held on Sunday, 11th May 2025, at ACK St. Joseph of Arimathea Church, off Thika Road (next to USIU), starting at 2:00 PM, to help the family cater for a significant medical bill incurred during her treatment. We are deeply saddened to announce the passing on to Glory of our beloved family matriarch Pastor Abigail Kageha lndire of Lusaala Hill, Vigina Area, Kidundu Sub-Location,Vihiga County, after a long illness following a fall in her house. She passed on at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu on 30th April 2025.

Pastor Abigail Indire was a true pioneer of education in Kenya. She was the very first African girl to be admitted to a girls’ high school in the country, in February 1948, alongside nine other girls from around Kenya, at the African Girls’ High School (AGHS), which later came to be known as Alliance Girls’ High School. She was given the school admission number 001, and has been affectionately known as ‘Girl Number 1’ or ‘First Girl’ since then. After high school and a teacher training course, she became the very first female African headmistress of a school, beginning in 1953 at Vihiga, and continuing on through several schools in Kenya. She was the first female Deputy Principal of Siriba College in Maseno, in 1962. Abigail was one of the founding African women members of Maendeleo Ya Wanawake after its formation in 1952, among her many other significant achievements. She was a steadfast lifelong Quaker (Friend) Christian, and held several senior positions in the church during her life, including being Presiding Clerk of the United Society of Friends Women (USFW) in Kenya for several years.

She was the fourth daughter and sixth child of the late Stefano Musalia and the late Selina Lumadi Musalia of Kigama Village, North Maragoli Location, Vihiga County.

With deepest sorrow we regret to announce the passing away of Mrs. lrene Wangeci Mwangi. She passed away on April 27th at the Nairobi Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Prof. Mwangi wa-Githumo and mother of Adora Mwangi Jones, Andre Mwangi, and Lulu Mwangi Mupfumbu. Mother in-law of Alonzo Jones and Tanyaradzwa Mupfumbu. She was a grandmother of Zakiya
Jones, Zoé Jones, Nakai Mupfumbu, and Itai Mupfumbu.

She was the daughter of the late Ayub and Martha Ndiang’ui of Gititu, Nyeri and daughter in-law of the late Githumo Ndungu and the late Elizabeth Wachera Githumo.

She was a sister of Karen Eliamani, the late Andrew Gathemia, Reuben Theuri, Pricilla Wambaire, Ruth Shem, Jemima Kyale and Miriam Munyenye.

Her funeral service will take place at Nairobi Central SDA Chuch — Jakaya Kikwete Road on Friday the 9th of May at 9.00am followed by her burial at Langata Cemetery.
