It is with heavy hearts and profound grief that we announce the sudden passing of our son, brother, and friend, Geoffrey (Jeff) Kanake, in Long Beach, California, USA.

Jeff was a cherished son of the late Francis Kanake Wahome and Grace Watetu Kanake.

He was a devoted and loving fiancee of Rita Muthoni Maina.

Jeff was a caring and dear brother of Soni Kanake, Isa KanakeVVairimu Kanake and Daniel Kanake.

He was an awesome brother-in-law of Dr Edgar Karanjah and Jackline Wachera Nguniiri, and a doting uncle of Jayden, Neema, and Njeri. He was a beloved nephew, cousin and friend to many.

Jeff was a beloved soul whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and joy of everyone whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service in remembrance of Jeff was held at Lifeline Community Fellowship in Cerritos, California, on Saturday, 12th July 2025.

Family and friends are meeting daily from 5.00 pm at the family home in Nyeri.

The cortege will leave Jamii Hospital, Karatina at 8.30 am on Friday, 25th July 2025, for a funeral service at the family’s ancestral home: Kibeche Village, Ithekahuno, Tetu Sub-County, Nyeri County. Thereafter, interment to follow.

He was son-in-law of the late Gideon Okwiya and late mama Mellisa Okwiya. Mzee was son of the late Mokaya Orina and the late Gechemba.

He was husband of Teresa Bonareri. Mzee was father of Sarah Kemunto Chogo (Nyansira), Victor Momanyi, OGW (Executive Office of the President), Anthony Orina, Esther Momanyi, Walter Nyakui, Vickline Kwamboka, Boston Mururi, Priscilla Mogotu and Nancy Kerubo. Mzee was grandfather of twenty seven (27) and great grandfather of Seven (7).

Mzee was grandson of Mogina Nyakeri and Nyakeri Obiri of Kebirichi Village.

Mzee was nephew of Obiri Nyakeri, Mogaka Nyakeri and Mabiria Nyakeri.

Mzee was cousin of Machuma Obiri, Annah Metobo, Abuga Obiri, Motari Mogaka, Ongoto Mabiria, Nyangareri Okenya, Orina Mireri, Orina Ondari, Orina Kiriama, Obuga Aucha, Orina Okoko, Orina Onguso, Nyabesi Kiriama among others.

Until his demise, mzee was unwell and hospitalized at Kenyatta National Hospital where he succumbed to his death on 14th July 2025.

A fundraiser to offset the medical and funeral expenses will be held today Tuesday, 22nd July 2025 at Professional Centre, along Parliament Road Nairobi from 5.00 pm.

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Rose Muthoni Maina, a beloved daughter, Mom, sister, aunt, Granny, and friend to many.
Rose was the loving wife of David Maina. A cherished mom of Lorna Njeri UK and Njau Kamotho UK, Nicole Muthoni, Scott Muriithi.

Rose was a daughter of the late Reuben Kiarie and Beatrice Wangithi. Sister of Samuel & Celestina Nganga, Edward & Lucy Maina, Anastasia Wambui, William and Milka Mburu and Josphat Mwangi (Kiro). She was an aunt, cousin, and mentor whose warmth and strength touched the lives of many.

She was working for Micos Limited until her demise. She served her community with dedication and grace, and her kindness will be remembered by all who knew her.

Wilson was the cherished son of Patrick Newton Gukura Muraya and Susan Wamucii Gukura, and a loving brother of Innocent Muraya Gukura and the late Shelmith Njamiu Gukura. He was a brother-in-law of Sylvia Wanjiru Muraya, and also a sibling of Anthony, Frida, and Peace.

Professionally, Wilson served diligently as the Logistics and Marketing Director at Patnet Steel Makers Manufacturers. Wilson was called to eternal rest on Sunday, 13th July 2025, while undergoing treatment for Pituitary Adenoma. We remember Wilson with gratitude, love, and admiration for the life he lived and the light he brought into our lives. His legacy of love, faith, and resilience will forever remain in our hearts. His absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt for years to come.
