Appreciation

We, Prof. C.K. Maitai and the entire family of the late Agatha Nyambura Maitai, express our-heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love, support, and prayers extended to us during her illness and after her demise. We thank God for His goodness and for blessing us with Mum for 82 wonderful years. Truly, we have felt His presence and comfort even in this difficult season. Our special thanks go to Jalaram Hospital (Dr. Raja), the Aga Khan Hospital, especially Dr. Warshow, Dr. Sheikh, Dr Njoki, Dr Otieno, nursing care team (James Ogolla, Stanley Simwa) and the entire medical team for their support and compassionate care. We sincerely thank jetFlair Ambulances and Eagles Ambulance Service for the multiple trips they made to and from the hospital. We deeply appreciate Mum’s dedicated caregivers—Beatrice, Precious, Mary, Susan and Grace—for ensuring she received the very best care at her Loresho home.

The immediate family sincerely appreciate all the support they received – in prayers, condolences and material – from friends and well wishers.

We also thank Mum’s friends and Rosary group, led by Mrs. Kariuki, for standing faithfully with her in prayers and for companionship. To the professional colleagues of Mum and Prof. C. K. Maitai, including the nursing community (and former colleagues of Mum from Kenyatta National Hospital), and the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya, the University of Nairobi, and all international professional colleagues who condoled with us – we thank you.

To the relatives, friends and neighbours at Wamagana – we sincerely thank you for your support and pleasant send off of Mum.

To our extended family—mum’s sisters, brother, cousins, nieces, nephews, and all in-laws from both sides—we are sincerely grateful.

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the untimely passing of Linda Mukhwana Buyela on 18th August 2025 in Nairobi, after a short illness.

Linda was the beloved daughter of Rtd. Deputy Chief Inspector of Schools, Mwalimu Johnston Buyela Wepukhulu, and Rtd. Teacher Mama Pauline Mwolobi Buyela.

She was the cherished granddaughter of Kuka Frem Wepukhulu and Kukhu Loise Namweke

She was a loving sister of Jacqueline Nakami,Ann Mulongo, Sally Khisa, William Wepukhulu, Rose Mukhaye, Joseph Wanambuko, Rachael Nangami, and Susan Mukite.

She was an aunt of Ted, Rebecca, Hope, Baraka, Angela, Nicole, Isaiah, Charlene, Pauline, Shanelle, Jayston, Nadine, Shilo, Zarya, and Zander, among others.

Linda was also a cousin-sister of Wafula, Eunice, Esther, Caleb and Mary.

Sister-in-law of Dr. Silvester Kasuku, Michael Wafula, and Sara Ngoni, among others. She was also a dear niece and cousin to many.

The burial service will be held on Saturday, 30th August 2025, at the home of Mwalimu Mzee Johnstone Buyela Wepukhulu in Teremi Village, Chwele Sub-County, Kabuchai Location, Bungoma County.

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Grace Akinyi Obayi, formerly of the Judiciary, which occurred on Sunday, 17th August 2025 at Nakuru Specialist Hospital. Grace was born on 15th December 1962.

Daughter of the late Steven Ochola and Wilkista Ochola.

She was a devoted wife of RtdWOII George Obayi and a loving mother of Alfred Ochieng, Beatrice Anyango Onsomu, Queen Elizabeth Obayi of Queen Kikwetu Restaurant, and Brenda Obayi She was also a cherished foster mother of Kevin, Patrick, Edmond of Old Mutual, and Frankline.

She was sister of one surviving sibling, Joyce Ochollah of KFA and the late Patrick, Richard, Joseph,Tabitha, Jane and Maurice.

Daughter-in-law of the late Okello Owidi and Aleso Okello. Sister-in-law of Jecinter Ochollah of USA, Monica, Ann and others.

Nyawana/Korera of Mr and Mrs Samuel Onsomu of Tindereti and mother-in-law of Dr. Elkana Onsomu of Egerton University.

Grandmother of Elan and Brenae, and a beloved aunt, mentor, and friend to countless others.

Grace served diligently in the Judiciary of Kenya from 1979 until her retirement in June 2022, working in Nakuru, Kisumu, Bondo Law Courts, and the Supreme Court of Kenya. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, humility, kindness, and dedication to family and community.

Daily prayers and funeral planning meetings are being held at her son Alfred’s residence in Baraka Estate (off Mustard Seed Schools) Nakuru and Rigena Hotel, Nakuru from 5.00p.m.

She was the daughter of the late Francis Kihunyu Kihang’a and the late Tabitha Wanjira Kihunyu, and sister of Grace Wanjiru Gatome and James Gatome Macharia, and the late Alice Wangui Muugu and the late Michael Muugu.

Mother-in-law of Boniface Mwendandu, the late Gordon Kihara Karingithi, Prof. Kuria Ndiba and Alice Wanjiru.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Duncan Githiga Mwangi, son of the late Erasws Mwangi Niuguna and Mary Wangui Mwangi, and stepson of Peris Gathoni Mwangi of Ichichi, Kangema, Murang’a.

He was son-in-law of the late John Mbugua Gitachu and Serah Wambui Mbugua of Gatanga, Murang’a.

He was the beloved husband of Margaret Wangui Githiga, and a devoted father of the late Alex Joseph Mwangi, Paul Mbugua, Mary Wangari, and Anne Wambui.

He was brother of the late Henry Waruiru, Harrison Njuguna, Prof. Muthaka Mwangi, Maina Mwangi, and Chege Mwangi among others.

He was also brother-in-law of Regina (USA), the late Gitachu, Njoroge, and others.

He was a cherished grandfather of Brian, Jaelynn, Mark, Amani, and the late Adrian Githiga, among others.

Family and friends are meeting for prayers and funeral preparations at PCEA St.Andrew’s Church, Nyerere Road, room 12 at 5:00 pm from Monday, 25th August to Thursday, 28th August 2025.

Trevor Fundi Lamenya Big Boy Trey

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing on to Glory of our beloved brother, son and dear friend Trevor Fundi Lamenya (also known as Big Boy Trey) of Lusaala Hill, Vigina village, Kidundu Sub-Location, Vihiga County, on 1st August 2025 after a short illness.

He was the eldest son of George Fundi Lamenya and the late Noel Kavaya Lamenya. Beloved brother of Beverley Lamenya, Tyrell Lamenya and Robai Lamenya.

He was the son of the late Samson Kasenga and Beth Nzisa. He was brother of the late Veronicah Mwikali, Benson Mwanzia, Florence Nduume, and Joyce Nduku.

He was son-in-law of the late Simon Mathii and the late Rabecca Nduku. He was brother-in-law of Stephen, Pauline, Titus, the late Mutunga, the late Mumbua, Richard, the late Tabitha, the late Mumo, Dancan, the late Ruth, and Susan. A beloved cousin, uncle, and friend to many, he lived a truly impactful life.

His body is resting at Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home in Machakos. The final send-off is scheduled for Saturday, 30th August 2025, at his rural home in Kakutha Village, Kangundo Sub-County, Machakos County.
