It is with great sorrow, sadness and humble acceptance of Gods will that the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) Board of Directors, Management and Staff announces the untimely demise of Solomon Ngigi Mburu, which occurred on 8th September, 2025 after a short illness. The late before his death, was working at Kenya Forestry Research institute (KEFRI)- Nyeri Forestry Research Sub-Centre.

He was son of Mburu Wainaina and the late Virginia Murugi of Githunguchu village- Nyahururu.

Husband of Jane Muthoni, son-in-law of George Waigwa and the late Grace Wanjiru Waigwa of Kangubiri village-Nyeri.

Father of Virginia Murugi, Alice Wanjiru, Robert Mburu, Joyce Wanjiku, Zachariah Waigwa and father-in-law of Samuel Karega.

Grandfather of Reann Wanjiru and Neila Muthoni.

Brother of the late Peter Wainaina, Bishop John Njuguna Pst Simon Gichuhi, James Njogu, Rev. George Ndung’u, Rosemary Nyambura, Joseph Kimani, Stephen Karanja, Samuel Waigwa, John Kariuki, !sack Murungi, Mwaniki (Chomba),TabbyWanjiku and Paul Githugo.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his home in Nyahururu- Githunguchu village near Githunguchu Secondary School for prayers and funeral arrangements.

The cortege will leave Pope Benedict XVI hospital-Nyahururu on Tuesday 16th September, 2025 for funeral service and interment at his home in Nyahururu- Gichunguchu village.

Wife of George Gohu Mwakule. Mother of Rachel Mbeyu Mwakule, Justin Msaga Mwakule and Corinne Erika Marie Nidoy.

Sister of Angela Muganda, Matthew Dande, Alice Dande (late), Rosemary Dande, Chrispine Dande, Caroline Dande, Benedette Dande, Philip Dande, Paul Dande, Catherine Dande. Daughter in-law of Stephen Shukuru Mwakule (late) and Esther Mbeyu Mwakule (late).

Sister in-law of David Mwakule (late) and Elizabeth Miomba (late), Janet Mvoi, Joe Muganda, Caroline Amondi, Hellen Basemera Dande, Ken Oguguah, Christine Dande, Charles Ngala.

Auntie of Stephen, Audrey, Abigail, Jeremy, Lorraine, Biruk,Tsilkiel, Haileab, Myra, Sierra, Kendel, Kyndra, Kenna, Kenya,Wallace, Hope, Romeo, Kuliet, Melanie, Elsa, and Tandi.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday 18th September, 2025 at Don Bosco Upper Hill Church at 10:00am.

Wife of the late Michael Mbue Gicheru of Ikohokoho

Daughter of the late Ndegwa Muchina and Hannah Wanjiku of Njau-ini, Kigumo Muranga. She was a sister of the late Muchina Ndegwa, the late Sarah Nyambura, the late Marion Kiundu, the late Tabitha Mugure, Rebecca and Ruth.

A matriarch of the Mbue “s family, she was the Mother of Beatrice Kabora, the late Moffat Kamau, the late Joan Mwaniki, Hannah Kariu, Joseph Ngumba, Sarah Kamau, the late Peter Ndegwa, David Muchina, Muchiri Mbue and Marion Gikonyo.

She was a grandmother, a great grandmother and a great great grandmother of the Kaboras-Kangema, Kamau’s- Gatia-ini, Mwaniki’s — Kimotho, Kariu’s — Mairi, Ngumba’s Ikohokoho, Kamau’s Mairi, Ndegwa’s, Muchina’s — USA, Muchiri’s and Gikonyo’s.

Prayers and funeral arrangements are being held daily at her home Ikohokoho starting at 3:00 pm and at Mogomano hotel Nairobi starting at 5.30pm.

The cortege leaves Githumu funeral home on 17th September 2025 at 8.30 am and thereafter the burial and service will be held at home, Ikohokoho farm, Mairi, Muranga.

Loving mother of Jemimah Moraa, the late Yabesh Isaac, the late Kennedy Matara. George lsoe (Director children’s Services), Florah Nyanchama, Ruth Kerubo, and Jacquelyne Nyaboke. She was a stepmother of the late Pamella, Stella, Isoe, the late Dinah, Linet, Geoffrey. Hellena, Robbi, and Nancy.

Mother-in-law of Johnson Nyakaru, the late Mary Nyainusi, Jackline Munini, Margaret Rose, Thomas Omwega, Joel Sagero, Simon Murimi.

Sister of Sibia Nyantari, Richard Mouko,Yunuke Mururi, Peninah Climenti, and the late Samuel Nyagari.

Sister-in-law of the late Ongera Otieri, Jerusha Obare, Mary Tora, Helen Ogino, David Otieri, Peris Karani, Stephen Otieri, the late Bundi Otieri, Nyangechanga Otieri, Monicah, Nyaboke, Mary and Hellen Wanza. She was grandmother to 18 and great-grandmother to 13.

The main harambee will be held at all Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on 16/09/2025.

The cortege leaves Umash Funeral Home, Nairobi, on 18th September 2025. Burial will take place on 19th September 2025 at Nyabichuki Village, Bosamaro Chacha Location Nyamira County.
