It is with great sorrow, sadness and humble acceptance of Gods will that the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) Board of Directors, Management and Staff announces the untimely demise of Solomon Ngigi Mburu, which occurred on 8th September, 2025 after a short illness. The late before his death, was working at Kenya Forestry Research institute (KEFRI)- Nyeri Forestry Research Sub-Centre.

He was son of Mburu Wainaina and the late Virginia Murugi of Githunguchu village- Nyahururu.

Husband of Jane Muthoni, son-in-law of George Waigwa and the late Grace Wanjiru Waigwa of Kangubiri village-Nyeri.

Father of Virginia Murugi, Alice Wanjiru, Robert Mburu, Joyce Wanjiku, Zachariah Waigwa and father-in-law of Samuel Karega.

Grandfather of Reann Wanjiru and Neila Muthoni.

Brother of the late Peter Wainaina, Bishop John Njuguna Pst Simon Gichuhi, James Njogu, Rev. George Ndung’u, Rosemary Nyambura, Joseph Kimani, Stephen Karanja, Samuel Waigwa, John Kariuki, !sack Murungi, Mwaniki (Chomba),TabbyWanjiku and Paul Githugo.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his home in Nyahururu- Githunguchu village near Githunguchu Secondary School for prayers and funeral arrangements.

The cortege will leave Pope Benedict XVI hospital-Nyahururu on Tuesday 16th September, 2025 for funeral service and interment at his home in Nyahururu- Gichunguchu village.

Daughter-in-law of Nichodemus Karanja and Elizabeth Nyambura.

She was a sister of Janet, Francis, Mary, Jennifer, Josephine, James, Faith, Josphat, John and Henry. Auntie of Teddy Mwai, among others.

Family and friends are meeting daily at Sportsview Hotel from 6.00pm at Aberdare Hall.

There will be a requiem mass on Tuesday 16th September 2025 at Queen of Apostle’s Catholic Church – Ruaraka, opposite (Safari Park Hotel) from 3.00pm.

The cortege leaves Montezuma – Kabati on Wednesday 17th September at 8.00AM to St.Allamano Catholic Church – Sagana, for funeral mass at 10.00am. Thereafter the late Nancy will be laid to rest at her farm in Githuguya, Sagana, Kirinyaga County..

Grandfather of Denis, Andrew, Teresa, Immaculate, Priscillar, Jemima, Reuben, Eugine, Teddy Sebby, Daniellah, Rozinah, Sabinah, Derrick, Prince George, Karel, Henry and Giannah. Great-grandfather of Moraa.

He was brother of the late Okoth, Everline Agola, Francis Okwero, Scolastica Nagira, the late Antony Muloka, Florence Akello, and Timothy Owino.

Burial arrangement meetings are currently ongoing at his home in Bulemia Village, Butula Sub-County.

The cortege leaves Butula Mission Hospital Mortuary on Tuesday, 16th September 2025, for a requiem mass at St Joseph Catholic Church, Butula and thereafter a night vigil at his home in Bulemia Village.

The burial will take place on Wednesday, 17th September 2025, at his home in Bulemia Village, Butula Sub-County, Busia County.

A matriarch of the Mbue “s family, she was the Mother of Beatrice Kabora, the late Moffat Kamau, the late Joan Mwaniki, Hannah Kariu, Joseph Ngumba, Sarah Kamau, the late Peter Ndegwa, David Muchina, Muchiri Mbue and Marion Gikonyo.

She was a grandmother, a great grandmother and a great great grandmother of the Kaboras-Kangema, Kamau’s- Gatia-ini, Mwaniki’s — Kimotho, Kariu’s — Mairi, Ngumba’s Ikohokoho, Kamau’s Mairi, Ndegwa’s, Muchina’s — USA, Muchiri’s and Gikonyo’s.

Prayers and funeral arrangements are being held daily at her home Ikohokoho starting at 3:00 pm and at Mogomano hotel Nairobi starting at 5.30pm.
