Alex Etyang, former High Court judge, collapses and dies at funeral meeting

Alex Etyang’, a retired High Court judge, collapsed and died on Sunday in Busia County.

Etyang  was chairing the burial committee of his close friend  the late Prof Imo when he collapsed. He was rushed to Amukura Mission Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong’, for whom he served as a legal adviser. sent his  heartfelt condolence message to the family.

The Governor said  the death of  Justice Etyang  was  not only a big loss to the family and friends,  but to all those who knew him, adding that the late Etyang  worked hard and long and provided clear and useful legal views for the the four-year tenure as his legal advisor.

“I am shocked  to learn of the untimely demise of Justice Etyang,  a close confidant who discharged his duties diligently at the bar and when I enlisted his services,’ he said.

The Governor  said the cruel hand of death has robbed the county off a brilliant legal mind who was the first Justice from the Teso region, adding that he will be missed by those who knew him.

H.E. the Governor also sent condolence message to Prof  Moses Imo, the Dean  Faculty of  Natural Resources and Energy University of Eldoret who died after a short illness.  He said his immense contribution in the education sector will be greatly missed.

The body has been moved to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
