We regret to announce the passing on of Apollo Kihara Wainaina of Kiamuturi Village, Mathioya.

He was the son of the late Nathaniel Wainaina Gachanja and late Tabitha Njeri Wainaina. Loving husband to Fraciah Wanjiku. Brother to the late Habel Gachanja (Ongata Rongai), Nahashon Mahugu (Kiamuturi), Mary Wangari (Buruburu), Joyce Njoki Ngwiri (Nembu), Leah Wairimu Kinyeru (Muranga), Engineer Joseph Muraya (Mombasa), Samuel Kariuki (Nakuru) and Grace Wangui (UK).

Son-in-law to the late Samuel Mariu and the late Peninah Njeri and the late Beth Wangari, all of Gakurwe village, Kiharu. Brother-in-law to Beatrice Wairimu Gachanja, Esther Wanjiru Mahugu, the late Simon Ngwiri, the late Joseph Kinyeru, Jane Wangari Muraya and Phoebe Wandia Kariuki.

Father to Hon. Peter Kimari (formerly, MP Mathioya), Anne Ngugi (Loreto Matunda), the late Geoffrey Nganga, Dickson Kihara (Equity Bank), James Mwangi (Constrabuild Ltd) and Moses Wainaina.

Father-in-law to Wairimu Kimari, Stanley Ngugi and Stacy Gachanja. Uncle to many.

Grandfather to Wanjiku Kimari, Apollo & Samantha Kihara,Wambui Kimari; Stacy & John Kaguora, Stephanie Wanjiku, Nathaniel Wainaina; Nikki Gachanja, Ray Gachanja, Ryan Gachanja; Praise Mwangi and Jeff Mwangi. Great-grandfather to Nickie Nyambura.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily at 4.00 pm for prayers and burial preparation at Hon Kimari’s residence, Mokoyeti East Road, off Lang’ata Road, near (Stedmak Gardens) and at his Kiamuturi home daily. There will be two meetings at All Saints Cathedral – Nairobi on Tuesday and Wednesday (11th and 12th October, 2022), starting at 5.00pm to 8.00pm.

The cortege shall leave Lee Funeral Home on Friday 14th October, 2022 at 7.00am for funeral service at ACK – Kiamuturi Church at 10.00am, and burial thereafter at his home in Kiamuturi, Mathioya.

Dad, in God’s hands you rest. In our hearts you remain forever.

    Rest in Peace appollo. I will always remember the lifts you gave me as I walked home to KAIRO in the evenings from work at Kiamuturi Primary School where I taught for 12 years
