It is with profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the sudden deaths of Mr. Benard Gitonga Maina and his son Michael Maina Gitonga through a tragic road accident. They hail from Sweetwater’s village in Nanyuki.

The Late Gitonga

Was a retired police officer who last served at Kiganjo police station, Nyeri from where he retired in December 2017. Son of the late Simon Maina Karia and Ann Nyaitharli of Gatunganga village in Mathira, Nyeri. Husband of Josephine Muthoni. Father of Sheila Gathii, the late Michael Maina and Samuel Gathuita. Brother of Paul Kabugi, Cyrus Kiama, the late Jane Nyathogora, Cecilia Muthoni, Agnes Ngima and Grace Wacuka. Son-in-law of the late Samuel Gathuita and Teresia Njeri. Brother-in-law of Jane Wangari, Nancy Waithera, the late Margaret Wambui, David lrungu, Faith Njoki, Elizabeth Wangechi, Judy Wanjira, Anthony Maina, the late Hilary Mburu from Maragwa, David Ngahu, Nazarine Muthoni, Ruth Wambui, Samuel Kimuhu and James Gitau of Membley Ruiru. Uncle, cousin and friend to many.

The late Michael Maina

Was an immediate former student of Kenya Power Institute of Energy Studies. Son of the late Bernard Gitonga and Josephine Muthoni; brother of Sheila Gathii and Samuel Gathuita. He was cousin and friend of many.

Family and friends are meeting daily at their home in Sweetwater’s village in Nanyuki, at Gatung’ang’a village in Mathira and at Gathera in Maragwa for prayers and funeral arrangements.

The cortege leaves Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary on Wednesday 8th January 2020 at 8:00am for a requiem mass and burial on the same day at their home in at Sweetwater’s, Nanyuki.

In God’s hand you rest, in our hearts you remain forever. Rest in peace.
