Chief Inspector David Wachira Gikonyo

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Chief Inspector David Wachira Gikonyo, OCS of Embakasi Police Station, following a road accident along Kenyatta Road in Ruiru. He hailed from Kiawaithanji
Village, Gaaki, Tetu, in Nyeri County.

Son of the late Gikonyo Ndiang’ui and Gladys Gathoni Gikonyo.

Husband of Ekira Gathoni Wachira of Absa Bank, Queensway Branch, Nairobi.

Father of Wairimu (Kenya School of Law), Gikonyo (Kagumo High School), Murigu (Nyeri Primary School) and Mwangi (Wendani School).

Brother of Wakarima, Mwangi, Wakili Wahome, Mathenge Gikonyo – Deputy AP Commander Makadara and Wambui.

Son in law of the late Munene Mari and late Phoebe Wanjira from Itiati, Mathira. Brother in law of Mari (Kenya Police), Wanjugu, Nyangati, Mweru, Mumbi, Kamunya, Ngima, late Wanjiku and the late Wambui.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his home in Murera, Ruiru, at their home in Kiawathanji from 4:00pm, and at Embakasi Police Station and IBIS Hotel Nyeri from 6:00pm for prayers and funeral arrangements.

The cortege leaves Nyeri Funeral Home OQutspan on Saturday 21st June 2025 at 8:00 am for a funeral service at Kiandu Secondary School Grounds from 10:00am. He will later be laid to rest at their home in Kiawaithaniji village.
