Claris Abiero Ojwang’

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the demise of our beloved Claris Abiero Ojwang’ which occurred on 23rd August 2025 while undergoing treatment at Memorial Hospital in Eldoret. Claris was the former Chairperson of Pan African Positive Women’s Coalition (PAPWC) based in Johannesburg and former Assistant Program Manager at AMPATH.

She was the daughter of the late Samuel Ojwang’ Onyango and Deborah Agolla Ojwang’.

The granddaughter of Japheth Onyango Bollo and Marcela Nyabware and Hosea Yimbo Asola and Dinnah Anyango (all deceased).

The mother of the late Martin Omondi Ojwang’, Melisa Karen Roxby and Samuel Chuma Baganda. The grandmother of Jeremiah, Miguel, Jamil Ngaira, Markel, Dotty, Mary and Diana.

She was sister of Denis Adede, the late Evaline Achieng, Olivia Anyango, Japheth Bollo, Janet Akumu, Christine Obondo, Lucy Owidi, David Otieno, Peter Oluoch, Japheth Onyango.

She was sister-in-law of Linda, Anne, Robert, Suleiman, Diana, Patricia and Ivyian.

She was aunty of Cecil, Nicole, Claire, Judith, the late Cynthia, Samuel Ojwang’, Enock, Caleb, Franklin, Mercy, Hosea, Samuel Bollo, Karen, Joseph, Fahreed, Elias, Lulu, Junior, Samuel Otieno, Gabriel, Ryan, Debbie Neema, Samuel Onyango, Joel, Micah, Deborah Agola. She was an aunty, cousin, niece, grandchild and above all a friend of many.

Prayers and funeral planning meetings are held daily at family home in Likuyani from 2:00pm daily.

The cortege will leave MTRH mortuary in Eldoret on the 4th September 2025 at 10:00 am for prayers and viewing at her annex residence. The cortege will then proceed to Likuyani at 12:00 noon for overnight vigil. Funeral service will take place on Friday 5th September 2025, at home in Likuyani, Kakamega County where she will be interred.
