Dr. Jacob James Julius Ochieng’ Konyango (Babji)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Jacob James Julius Ochieng’ Konyango (Babji) of Sakwa-Kamnara, which occurred on 19th August 2025.

Beloved husband of Pelesia Agola Ochieng’.

Son of the late Julius Onyango Kisienya and the late Keziah Nyangolo Mijema.

Father of the late Patrick Erick Seda, Pastor Julias Paul Onyango, Erastus Samuel Ndege, Isaac Nyangolo, and Dorcas Eunice Anyango Magoma.

Father-in-law of Jewel Awino Onyango, Emily Onsoti Ndege, and Bivon Magoma.

Grandfather of Andrew,Vicky, Ruby, Netania, Patrick, Ivan, Jaenelle, and Janaya.

Brother of the late Otuoma, the late Christopher Edward Otieno, the late Silpa Okech Nyayoto, the late Agalo Anyim, the late Eliud Mijema Onyango, Lily Anyango Ochieng’, Ruth Aluoch Kinya, and the late Jeconiah Awili.

Brother-in-Law of Keziah Otieno, Mary Awuor Mijema, Mahlon Ochieng’, Kinya Munyirwa, and Mary. Brother-in-law of the late George Ocholla, Ezra Ojwang”, the late Josephat Odiwuor, Geophrey Owino, Janet Atieno Kenyatta, and Beatrice Akumu Ng’etich.

Cousin of Joseph Kwaka and Pastor Tobias Ayayo, among others. He was father (Babji) of many nephews and nieces, and a brother and friend to many.

The memorial service was held at Newlife SDA Church, Nairobi, on 27th August.

Friends and family are meeting daily at the family home in Ajigo Village, Bondo.

The cortege leaves Aga Khan Funeral Home, Kisumu, on 4th September for an overnight stay at his home. Burial will take place on Friday, 5th September, at his home.
