The Gathiru family announces the passing on of our Matriarch Elizabeth Njeri Gathiru.

Wife of the late Timothy Gathiru Chege. Mother to the late Ernest Chege, Simon Nguyai, Nathaniel Ndung’u, the late Reuben Njihia (Marema), John Kariuki, Eunice Njoki Waiganjo, James Njuguna, Esther Ngonyo Gitogo, Ruth Wambui Githongo and Rebecca Wangechi.

Mother-in-law of Damaris Chege, Margaret Nguyai, Lilian Ndung’u, Janet Njihia, Teresia Nyambura, Peter Waiganjc, Ruth Waithira, George G. Kirubi and John Mwangi Githongo.

Grandmother to the Cheges, Nguyais, Ndungu’s, Njihia’s, Kariukis, Waiganjos Gitogos, Githongos and the Rebeccas. A great-grandmother and a great-great-grandmother to many.

Co-wife to the late Ann Wambui and the late Prisca Wairimu. Stepmother to the late Fred Chege, the late Kenneth Ngure, the late Jonah Chege, the late Ruth Wambui Babu, Mary Wanjiru Kanja, Esther Ngonyo Kamau, Samuel Kuria and the late Serah Nduta.

Daughter of the late Simon Nguyai and the late Susan Njoki-(Chomo, Gatanga). Sister to Reuben Marema, the late Mugo, the late Nyoro, David Mbagiru, the late Julius Mbugua (Kaibere) and the late Benu Nguyai.

Aunt to the Marema’s, the Nyoro’s, the Mabagiru’s, and the Kaibere’s.

Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers at her home Gituamba, Gatundu North.

The cortege will leave Montezuma Kabati, Thika on Wednesday, 5th October 2022 at 8.30am. Funeral service and burial will be held at her home Gituamba Village Gatundu North the same day.
