Gothard Mungai Karanja

We wish to announce the passing of Gothard Mungai Karanja of Umoja I (formerly of Friends Bar, Umoja G).

He was husband of Mary Wangari Mungai and loving father of Faith Wanjiru, Jacinta Waithero, Michael Karanja, Eunice Njeri, David Maina, James Mwangi, Peter Chege. He was grandfather of Ian Mungai, Andrew Karuri and Gothad Mungai and many more and great grandfather of many.

He was father in law of Scott French and Githinji Karuri. He was uncle to many.

He was the son of the late Karanja Kaiganira and Esther Wanjiru (Wamugo). He was brother of the late Njeri, the late James Mwangi (Jasho), the late Peter Chege, the late Elizabeth Njoki and the late John Mugo, all from Thagari village.

Daily prayers are being held at his residence in Umoja L7, next to Umoja I Market.

The cortege will leave KU Mortuary on the 9th of September, 2025 for burial that has been scheduled for the same day at Thagari Village, Kagira Sub-location, Gaichanjiru ward, Muranga County.
