Hon. Daniel Karaba Dickson Kimaru, CBS
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, yet with humble acceptance of God’s will, that we announce the passing of Hon. Daniel Karaba Dickson Kimaru, a towering leader, statesman, and servant of the people. He served as the first senator of Kirinyaga County and a member of Parliament of Kirinyaga Central, Kirinyaga County. Among other capacities, he served as the President of the African Confederation of High school Principals. Hon. Daniel Karaba passed away on 23′ March, 2026 in Kirinyaga County.
He was a devoted husband of Charity Wangithi Karaba, and a loving father of Eva Nien & Dickson Muriithi, Florence Wakarima & Christian Stadler, Dickson Murirni & Susan Wangari, Dolly Wambui & Simon Mwangi and Charles Karani & Lillian Waruguru.
An affectionate granddad of Ethan, Neema, Benjie, Leah, Halley, Grace, Huru & Shantie.
He was the son of the late Dickson Kimaru and the late Josephine Kimaru, Brother of the late Beth Wambui, late Eliud Chira, Beatrice Wanja, late David Muriuki, late Duncan Kinyua, Retired Lay Leader Eutkus Muchiri, late Naman Kimani, Eng. Jeremiah Kinyua, Margaret Njoki, and the late Stephen Migwi (Njoroge). Uncle, grandfather, family, friend, and mentor to many.
His passing is an immense loss, not only to his family but to the entire nation of Kenya. He was a shining light in our community and a firm voice on matters of education and progress. He leaves behind a legacy of service and a lasting impact on our community.
The cortege will depart from Montezuma Funeral Home Kahan, then proceed to Njega School Grounds, Kirinyaga County, where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. commencing at 8:00 AM. Thereafter, he will be laid to rest at his home.
Family, friends, and colleagues are meeting for prayers and funeral arrangements at Njega’s home daily from 3.30p.m and All Saints Cathedral NRB on Monday, 5.00-8.00p.m
