Lucy Wanja Mwangi-Hiuhu (Mama Tom)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Lucy Wanja Mwangi-Hiuhu (Mama Tom) on September 8, 2018 at the Aga Khan Hospital.

Lucy was the loving wife of Mr. George Mwangi Hiuhu (Businessman, Thika). Daughter of the Late Mwalimu David Ng’ang’a and Mrs. Martha Njeri Ng’ang’a (Kambaa, Githunguri). Mother of Tom and Susan Hiuhu, David Ng’ang’a and Lucy Gikamu, Joe and Flo Busiega, Jackson and Njeri Kinyoho, Charles and Betty Gacheru and Sam and Rose Kimotho (Delaware, USA). Sister of Sam and Marylin Kimotho (Canada), Dr. Wilfred and Fatuma Kiboro, Col (Rtd) James and Jane Gichuhi, the late Eng. Joe and the late Ruth Gitau, George and Mary Wamuti, The late Dominic Njoroge and Mrs. Margaret Njoroge, Prof. Waudo and Mrs. Ann Waudo, Dr. Mogeke and Eng. Rosemary Mogeke (Melbourne Australia), Mr. Peter and Elizabeth Njuguna, Mr. Sylvester Karanja and Mrs Teresiah Nduta Karanja (Atlanta, USA). Sister in law of, among others, Mrs. Gladys Ngoiri Karuthi, Mr. and Mrs. Ndicu Hiuhu and Mr. and Mrs. James Kamau Hiuhu (all of Gathanji, Githunguri). Lucy was the adoring grandmother and great grandmother to many.

Funeral meetings are taking place in Nairobi (at the Kiboro’s residence) Tuesday to Wednesday (11th-12th Sept 2018) and in Thika, (at the Hiuhu’s residence) daily at 7pm.

The body will leave Kenyatta University Funeral Home on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 7.00am.There will be Mass at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Kambaa, Githunguri at 10am, followed by burial at the family home burial site.
