Mama Grace Akinyi Ochieng’

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of our mother Mama Grace Akinyi Ochieng’, which occurred on 25th December 2021. She hailed from Homabay County, Rangwe Sub-County, Kanyanjwa Village.

Mama Grace Akinyi Ochieng’ was the daughter of the late Walter Odoyo and the late Susana Odhoch of Kayoo, Kakdhimu in West Karachuonyo, Homabay County. She was the loving wife of the late Nicholas Ochieng Onyony. She was the loving mother of Cyprian Onyony Ochieng of Onyony and Co. Advocates (Nairobi), Polycarp Obado Ochieng, Pamela Anyango Ochieng, Dr. Justine Ochieng-Midega (KIRDI), Boniface Omondi Ochieng (Switzerland), Kenneth Omundo Ochieng and Salome Ochieng Nielsen (Denmark).

She was the mother-in-law of Caroline Onyony, Lamech Otieno, Prof. Charles Midega (PHIS), Tina Kranz Ochieng (Switzerland) and Cliff Nielsen (Denmark). Grandmother to Shanice Grace, Nicholas Onyony,Velma Akinyi, Bryan Nicholas, Eugene, Michael, Paula Grace, Sierra Grace,Tara, Nathan Charles Jnr, Nicholas Midega, Malia, Nahla Grace and Nicholas Nielsen.

Mama Grace Ochieng’s siblings were the late Drusilla Auma Aunda, the late Michael Gumbo, the late Reuben Odoyo, Mary Opiyo, the late Samuel Onyango, the late David Odoyo, and Suleiman Odoyo.

The cortege leaves Aga-Khan Mortuary, Kisumu, for a Requiem Mass at 9:00 am at Sc. Theresa’s Catholic Church Kibuye, in Kisumu on 10th January 2022. The cortege will then leave for St. Theresa’s Asumbi Catholic Church (Homabay County) for a second requiem mass at 12:00 pm. Thereafter, our mother will be moved home to Gem West, Rangwe Division, Kanyanjwa Sub-location, Bandung’ Village, where a prayer service and night vigil will be held.

The burial ceremony will be held on 11th January 2022 from 10:00am. All guests should be seated by then.
