Mama Philomena Mwinza Kang’ulyu

It is with acceptance of God’s will that we announce the untimely death of Mama Philomena Mwinza Kang’ulyu which occurred on 21st May, 2019 at the Nairobi West Hospital.

Daughter of the late Mulonzya Ivita and Musyoki Mulonzya. Wife of the late Mzee Simon Kang’ulyu Kyulu. Sister of the late Esther Mbeti, Muvengei Mulonzya, the late Kalunda Ilaki, and the Simbii Mulonzya. Mother of Brigadier (Rtd) Fred Kimanzi, Josiah Musili, Director, National Cohesion and Values, Joyce Kanyiva, Florence Mungai, the late Angelina Mbete, Julius Kongo, Peninah Kamene and Esther Kithumbi. Mother-in-law of Elizabeth Kimanzi, Lilian Muli-Musili, Janet Kongo, Benedict Wambua, Musili Kioko, Kimanzi Komu and Lumumba Muti. Step-mother of the late Major (Rtd.) Francis P. Musili, Josephine Kabila, the late Fidelis Kyulu and Janet Mbuthye among others. Grandmother and great-grandmother of many.

Family and friends are meeting daily at Rapid Foods Restaurant KICC, at Brigadier (Rtd) Kimanzi’s residence (Landless Thika), and her home in Mwingi for prayers and burial arrangements.

The cortege leaves Montezuma Funeral Home on Friday, 7th June, 2019 at 6.00am for the burial ceremony at her home in Kavaini Village, Mwingi West Sub-county, Kitui County.
