We regret to announce the death of Maria Monicah Gakenye Waweru of Gakoe-Raini, Kamwangi District, Kiambu County on 29th May, 2019.

Wife of the late Nicholas Waweru Kanyoko. Daughter of the late Irungu Wainaina and late Loise Wanjiru. Mother of the late Peter Kanyoko, late Kinyanjui Nicholas, Teresia Nyokabi (Nakuru), Jane Waweru (KNH), late Muiruri Waweru, Juliet Njeri (Gakoe), Raphael Wainaina (Businessman-Nairobi), Ann Wanja (Eagle Africa) and Joseph Njoroge (Nairobi). Daughter-in-law of the late Kanyoko and Ngerewa. Mother-in-law of Joseph Maina (Nakuru), Jevidah Njeri (Gakoe), Dr Stephen Karanja (UHMC) and Virginia Gathoni (Paulines Publications). Sister of Gichuhi and the lates Wainaina, Wanja, Komo, Njambi, Kiarie and Kang’ethe. Grandmother of Monicah Gakenye (Dalberg Research), Nicholas Waweru (Kiambu County), Teresiah Nyokabi (KWFT), Monicah Gakenye (SA), George Njenga (Mombasa),Teresia Nyokabi (Gachege Tea Factory), Jane Wanjiru (Kiambu County) among others. Great-grandmother and aunt of many.

Family and friends are meeting daily at her home in Gakoe-Raini from 4.00pm and at Norwich Union Towers-Nairobi from 5.34pm.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Funeral Home, on Friday the 7th June, 2019 at 8.00am for requiem Mass at St Nicholas Catholic Church, Raini followed by burial at her family home.

“In God’s arms you rest, in our hearts you remain forever.”
