Mama Selina Awuor Acholla

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of our dear Matriarch Mama Selina Awuor Acholla which occurred on June 29th, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Nairobi.

Wife of the late Kasmil Acholla-Luo of Alego Kaluo, Luanda Village, Komolo Sub-Location, North Alego Location, Siaya County. Daughter of the late Mzee Ogolo Ogwang’ and the late Mama Obango Nyaim of Ndai, Alego Kadenge. She was sister of Nyaim Mbinga, Okew Ogolo, Ofware Mbinga [all deceased] and step sister of Owino Ogolo among others. Daughter in-law of the late Luo Aloo and Mama Oteo Luo and mother of her only son Alexander Paul Okoth-Acholla, formerly of National Housing Corporation, Nairobi. She was sister in-law of Hega and Maria Luo, Peter Menya and Mama Teresa Menya, the late Joseph and Domtila Obiero-Okang’ among others. Mother in-law of Mrs. Constance Akello-Okoth of St. Mary’s Medical Clinic, Kibera and grand-mother of Wycliffe and Christine, Meresia Alunga, David and Juliet, Eva and Elijah Ochung’, Stephen and Stacy, Norah and Markus Kringe. She leaves behind 13 great grand-children, Mama Selina was a loving auntie of Otieno Hega, Jacob Onyango, Fillister Aloo, Symphrose Ogutu and Robert Obiero among others.

There will be a major fund raising Harambee to offset Hospital Bill and funeral expenses at the All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi on Tuesday, July 9th, 2019 from 5.30pm.

Daily meetings from 6.00pm at Mr Okoth’s residence at Onyonka Estate, Hse No. C44 for prayers and funeral arrangements. Also at Hot Dishes Restaurant on Monday July 8th, and Wednesday July 10th, 2019.

There will be funeral Church Service at Montezuma Chapel on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 at 1.00pm by the Church of Christ in Africa – HERA where all are welcome.

The body is lying at Montezuma Funeral Home and leaves for home at 5.30am on Friday July 12th, 2019 with the burial scheduled for Saturday, July 13th, 2019 from 10.00am at her home, next to Oseno Komolo Primary School, along Siaya/Ndere/Rang’ala/Ugunja Road.
