Mzee Hon. George Fredrick Oduya Oprong

It is with humble acceptance and gratitude to the Almighty God that we announce the passing on of our beloved father, leader, statesman, independence hero, trade unionist, former Assistant Minister and MP Amagoro, Mzee Hon. George Fredrick Oduya Oprong, MBS on 25th May, 2019 at Kenyatta National Hospital after a long illness.

Son of the late Jeremiah and Amiriai Oprong, Loving Husband of the late Florence Namalwa, Miriam, the late Agnes, Grace and Stella Oduya. Loving father of the late Sato, Pamela, Jerry, Isaac, Esnas, Sarah, Janet, Cathy, Jose and others. Grandfather of Kelvin, Carlton, Chebet, Luke, Leticia and many others. Brother of Samuel Amke, Silas Esiromo, Gregory Emodo, Sarah Esiromo, Salome Amoit, Rev. George Etyang, Anna Osiya, Micah Onyapidi, Aggrey Amugu, Geoffrey Omoding and many others. Uncle of Patrick Osiya, Arthur Osiya, Catherine Epaye, David Osere, Moses Oduya, Abel Okroje, Robert Ikapel and Many others. Brother-in-law of Charles Wakhaya, Hon.Albert Ekirapa, Mary Sichangi and many others. Father-in-law of Gladwell, Wanja, Saina, Jacky, Anyango and many others. Funeral arrangements are ongoing. There will be fundraising at the All Saints Cathedral Nairobi on Thursday 6th June, 2019 at 5.00pm to offset Mzee’s funeral expenses.

Friends and relatives will be meeting for prayers at Green Span Estate Phase 5, House No. 349.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints Cathedral Nairobi on Tuesday, 11th June, 2019 at I 2noon.

The cortege will leave Lee Funeral Home on Wednesday, 12th June, 2019 to be laid to rest on Friday, 14th June, 2019 at his Angurai home village,Teso North Constituency, Busia County.
