Mzee John Onyango Sewe

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Mzee John Onyango Sewe, of Nandi Village, Nyalgunga Sub-location, North Alego Location, Siaya County, which occurred on May 7th, 2021, at Siaya County Referral Hospital after a long illness bravely borne.

The fifth born child and the second son of Mzee Gabriel Sewe Ogode and Mama Modesta Adhiambo Ogwalla Sewe [both departed] of Alego Kaluo clan. Brother to Dolfina Anyango Ogutu, Joseph Omondi Sewe, Louisa Aluoch Ogolla, Katherina Ogutu Opiyo, Maria Auma Oloo [all departed] and Rosa Adhiambo Wambisa. A loving husband of Mama Maria Awuor Onyango and Mama Mary Alice Onyango and a dear father to George Ogode Onyango, formerly of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nairobi, Monica Achieng’ Ogada of Studbook, Nakuru, Dr. Peter Sewe Onyango of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, Kisumu, William Omondi Onyango of Africa Reinsurance, Nairobi and Ms. Caroline Adhiambo Onyango of Nairobi.

Father-in-law to Margaret A. Ogode, Pamela A Sewe, Ruth A. Sewe, Christine A Omondi and Walter Ogada. Grandfather to Beryl, Caroline, Robert, Christine, Timothy, Maurine, Silpher, Beryl, Edward Ogada, Mary, Deborah, Betty, John, Vicky, Edward Sewe, Stanley, Gabriel and Teddy Omondi. He leaves behind nine great-grandchildren.

Step-brother to the late Mzee Joseph Owino Orek. Cousin to Mr. George W. Akumu and the late Fanuel Owiti Nyapola, among others. Brother-in-law to Seline Odawo Omondi, Josphine Anyango Omondi, Seline Nyandege Owino, Mama Philister Muruka, Mzee Opiyo Ambiro, Mzee James Oloo and Mzee James Richard Wambisa [all departed], among others.

Son-in-law to Mzee Ambrose Ododa Onyiego of Alego Urim and Mzee James Mududa Omollo of Alego Seje, [both departed].

The burial will take place at his home in Nandi Village, Nyalgunga Sub-location, North Alego Location, Siaya County, on Saturday May 22nd, 2021, from 9.00am.
