Mzee Odero Ongaro Sitandi

1935 – 2020

Ammuli community of Bunyore, Luanda Sub-county, Vihiga County and the Sitandi family has sadly lost a pillar on Wednesday, 29 July 2020 when Mr. Aggrey Odero Ongaro, formerly of Kenya Railways, Traffic Department passed away while hospitalized at Masaba Hospital, Chulaimbo, Kisumu County.

Odero is survived by a guardian mother, Naomi Omukuba, and two brothers: Amedi Amukoa and Ogungo Ongaro along with their wives and children; six Sisters: Mboyia Otundo, Priscilla Olesi, Marende, Nyakowa, Sarah, Nyanguela and Flora. In-laws: Beverly, Okweya, Andeso and Daisy; Cousins: George Olimba, Okeya, Patrick, Helen and Martin.

He is also survived by his Sons: Safari Minya (KFS), Col (Rtd) Omukuba Mulama, WOII Stanley Mwenje (KN Moi Barracks), Humphrey Nyakuti (Sungura); Philip Makutsa, Pastor Shem, David, Zephania; Ambwaya Obanda (TR), Omukambi, Ndenga, Alinyo, Ongaro; Martin Amedi, William; Ogungo Ayanga, Apollo; Prof. Obanda, Nyakuti, Hon. Omulele MP Luanda, Khumba, Ondu, Anyangu, Ndenga; Nyakuti Omuyaku, Mengo, Obiero; Mwenje Omindi, Jain), Nyakuti, Omulele; Robert Omuyoma, Olang, Ongaro;Yusuf. Daughters: Pamela Sango (Uhuru Primary), Turfena Makutsa; Anyoso Obanda; Ongachi Miriam, Lily, Ayuma; Floice, Dorcas, Esther; Ongachi Ayanga; Fatuma.

Father-in-law to Wilson Mabwa, Beatrice, Marilyn, Ann, Carol, Elizabeth, Esther Miru, Antonnette, Jackyline and Jane. He was grandfather to Evans, Everline, Elias, Carol, Edmund, Edna, Kennedy, Kimberly, Rowena, Naomi, Cynthia, Shirley, Ayiecha, Brenda, Alfred, Stella, Sandra, Melisa, Jessy, Sheila, Laura, Otuoma, Amanda and great grandfather to many. Mzee Odero was preceded in his death by his parents: Mr. & Mrs. Ongaro Sitandi, his wife Felister Okoyo Odero Eclene Ayanga, and Rev. mama Sophia Monyo; brothers: Makutsa, Obanda, Ayanga, Monyo, Omuyaku, Omindi, Omuyoma, Obanda; his sisters: Ayieta, Atieno, and Amisi Odonda; daughters: Stella Ongachi, Flora Obanda, and Amoyia Monyo; In-laws: Mr. & Mrs. Omukatia of Butere, Musule, Osundua, Sarah and Omuka Sango.

His legacy will live on in our hearts and minds and we thank the Almighty God for his life here on earth and pray for his soul to rest in eternal peace.

We thank the doctors and nursing staff at Masaba Hospital, Chulaimbo. Special thanks to Eclene Ochunyi for her selfless care of Mzee over the years.

Mzee Aggrey Odero Ongaro will be laid to rest at his home in Emmuli, Ebutanyi -Luanda Sub-County, Vihiga on Friday 7th August 2020.
