It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the resting of Mama Esther Kemunto Tongi on 25th August 2025.
Daughter of the late Mzee Makori Mecheo and the late Mama Nyaera Makori.
She was the wife of the late Mzee Willingstone Nyangate Tongi.
She was sister of Oiruria Makori, the late Gekondo,Matoke, the late ClIr Onsare Emori, the late Christopher Nchore, the late Ntabo, the late Mangaro, Keiga, Omwalimu Fred Makori, the late Nyangau, the late Nyanchera, the late Tabitha, Mongina, Bonareri, Nyorita, the late Nyambesa, Chiebeta, and Nyantinge.
Mother of Peter and Jane Okeno (Rtd KDF), Annah and the late Misi Korombani, the late Caren and Peter Maera, the late Josephine, Jared and Sarah Omwoyo (USA), the late Man’garo, Hon. Richard and Stellah Nyagaka Tong’i (Former Mp Nyaribari Chache) Johnesmus and Hyline Nyangate Tongi (KPC Kisumu), Gillian and Duncan Nyandusi (NCA) and Sir Vincent and Susan Nyaicho Tongi (USA).
Grandmother of Dominic (Kisii Poly) and Catherine Registrar of Births) Nancy and Matthew Canada, Philip Maera (Parliament) and Doreen, Risper and Jeremiah (Qatar), Judy, Dorcas, Dennis, Rose and John, Job,Anita (KDF Navy), Elijah (USA), Dr Edwin, Elijah (USA) Jeremiah (USA), Dr Keith, Riste (CIC),Trendys, Neswil, Sandra, Nicole, Handel, Spence, Beatrice and Cosmas, Judy and Harrison, Josphat, Fred, Judy,Wycliffe and Trizah,Austin,Aidan (USA), Scarlet (USA) Sydney (USA) and Vincent Junior (USA), amongst others. She was blessed with several great-grandchildren.
Daughter-in-law of the late Mzee Nyang`ate Nyambane Mogere, the late Mama Kerubo Ntimo Nyang’ate and Moraa Masagege Nyang’ate. Sister in-law of Kerubo Omariba, Kwamboka Ogake, Rohosafi Kemunto, and Nyabira, Orora Nyang’are, Mongina Orora, Ntangina Samarere, John Getoto, Ndubi Nyang’ate, Mbeche Nyang’ate, Obonyo Mbeche, Atemba, Bitutu, Bogita, Nyamwaya, Nyaicho, Chiengata, Binyanya, Nyambega Mongina Mogere Nyang’ate, all late.
She was a beloved auntie of many.

A Nairobi harambee will be held on Wednesday, 6th August 2025, at Maxwell SDA Church (Old Chapel) from 5.00pm.
The Kisumu meetings are held daily at the Nyangate’s residence in Riat There are also daily meetings taking place at herAmariba home.
The hearse will leave the Lee Funeral There Home, Nairobi, for Kisii on 10th August 2025 with a final farewell service and ceremony taking place at Amariba Primary School, Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County on 11th August 2025.
