Rtd. Col Jimmi Wangome

We regret to announce the demise of the Rtd. Col Jimmi Wangome on July 11th 2025 after a long illness bravely borne.

He was the son of the late Snr Chief Robinson Wangome and the late Elizabeth Wanjugu Wangome.

He was the beloved husband of Maureen Kagure Wangome, father of Wanjugu Wangome & Lawrence Muhia, the late Robin Tesfaye Wangome and Adam Mesphine Mwaniki Wangome.

He was a charismatic brother of the late Rtd, Major Jeff Wachira Wangome and Mrs Jeddiah Wangome, the late (Sir) George Thiga and Mrs. Beatrice Thiga, Mrs. Lillies Nyore and the late Paul Nyore, the late Lydia Njeri Kihara and Mr Erastus Kihara, Mrs. Mary Muringi Mbaru and Jimnah Mbaru, the late Ruel Ritho Wangome and the late Isabel Wangome.

Son-in-law of the late Adam Mwaniki and Margaret Wanjiru Mwaniki. Grandfather of Zora Mwiathi Waithera, Zeke Jorwa and Zela-Maria Kagure Muhia. Jimmi was a cousin, uncle and a friend to many.

Relatives and friend continue to condole with the family at their Lavington residence.

His life celebration will be held on Thursday 17th July 2025 at the Lavington United Church from 2.00pm.

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of Gods will that we announce the passing of Nelson Ochieng Kwanyah Odidi in Berlin Germany on 7th June 2025.

He was the beloved son of George Kwanyah Odidi and Esther Akinyi Odidi of Kanjira, Karachuonyo -Hornabay County. Step son of Rose Odidi and Mary Odidi. Brother of the late Faith Odidi, Dishon Yoweri, Daisy Bentrup, Joab Kwanyah. Dorah Uslin, Steve Biko, Benner, Irene, Bellin, Iddah, Mercy, Sharon, Abisa, Brian, and the late Arthur.

Brother in law of Faith Yoweri,Ashley Adiga, Oliver Bentrup, Jen’s Uslin, Lydia Biko, Daniel Omondi, Okoth Obwanda, Joseph Omondi, among others.

He was a dear uncle of Jeremy, Justin, Bradley, Zeddy, Kimberly, Angie, Ryan, Shantel, Dwayne, Salva, Roman, Zain, Macron, Romy, Isabel, Z.anaya Zoey and Jaden.

His uncle’s and aunties include, the late Kabasa Odidi, the late Ojijo Odidi, the late Ouma Odidi, the late Sawo Odidi, the late Obel Odidi, Philip Migai, Gor Odidi, the late Seth Oluoch and the late Mark Okoko, the late Henry Abil, the late Methuselah Nyagol, the late Peninah Odidi, the late Margaret Ouko, the late Adhiambo Odidi, the late Susan Kabasa, Jane Ouma, Sarah Odidi, Hellen Odidi, Everlyne Sawo, among others.

The cortege leaves Agakhan Hospital Mortuary on Thursday 17th July 2025 for a brief stop over and viewing at the Odidi’s home in Mamboleo Kisumu, thereafter, proceeds to Karachuonyo, Kanjira. Homabay county for a night vigil. Burial ceremony will be held on Friday 18th July 2025 at their home in Kanjira starting at 9.00am.

Co-wife of Agatha Ochwal. Step-mother of Hellen, Joseph, Mcrcy and Chris Ochwal.

Daughter of Pastor James Abuogo and Mama Teresa Abuogo, both deceased. Sister of the late Mama Phoebe, Mama Jane, Pastor Gordon, Samson and Mama Pamela.

Mother-in-law of Mr. Justice Oguttu Mboya, Chelsea, and Samantha.

Grandmother of Tatyana, Myles, Gabrielle, Annabelle, Lincoln and Alva Juliet.

Daughter-in-law of Walter Tulu and Bendetta Tulu both deceased. Sister-in-law of Eddie and Eunice, the late Samson, the late Rose and Angeline, the late Perez, and Mama Caroline. Auntie of Sippy, Odhiambo Okello, Hellen, Omondi, Aguko, Alec,Tony, Beril, Nancy, Emmanuel and the late Rose & Dick.

Mama Grace worked at JOOTRH until her retirement in 2016.

Daily prayers and vigil are at her residence in Migosi estate.

The cortege will leave Aga Khan Hospital – Kisumu Morgue on 17th July 2025 at 10:00 AM for a requiem mass at St. Leonida Catholic Church – Nyawita followed by funeral visitation at her Migosi residence.

Mama Grace will be laid to rest on 18th July at her home in Seme Kadero near Sunrise Secondary School from 10:00 AM.

Sister of Mr. Peter Kinanga Nyarecha, John Nyakundi Nyarecha, Hellen Kwarnboka Nyarecha, Karen Kemu.ma Nyarecha.

Beloved husband of Mama Peris Kenanda. Father of Esther, Johnson, Hezron, the late Norah, Josiah, Sospeter, forum, Lazarus. late Florence, Jane, Shadrack, Carol; and Euniah. He was a grandfather of 35 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was a brother of Moraa, Nyarnoita, Bota, the late Francis, Chrisantus, Nyangate, and Samuel.

Father In-law of Grace, Faith, Mary, Nancy, Judy Oyondi, Janet, Cleophas, the late James, Kennedy, Jared and Ammon.

She was a loving daughter of Joash Mokaya Omambia and Sarah Kithei Luvai. Sister of Dalphine Mokeira, Amaziah Gekara and Titus Monari.

Granddaughter of late Omambia (Usiogope) and Monica from Matongo, Bokeira, Nyamira County and late Luvai and Priscilla from Machakos.

She was a cherished niece of Jerusa, Pacifica, late Ken, lace Torn, George, Mokeira, Linet, Nyaencha. Robertiackie, Phina, Magicho, late Nyamisa, and Kamm’, Kaluki, Mbenge, late Thathi and Musau from Machakos.

A fond cousin of Dolly, Duke, Della, Andrew, Abner, Nyamisa,Vale, Matoka, Ken, Lennox, Ken, Charity, Muir, Mary and aunt to many.

Daughter of Mr. Francis Maina Karue and Sarah Wangari Maina, daughter-in-law of Mr. George Kiruri Gakonyo and Mrs Pens Wangeci Kiruri.

Naomi was the beloved mother of Imani Wamuyu and Jabali Kiruri, sister of Wanja Maina, George Karue and Gakure Maina, sister-in-law of Jane Wanjira and Lay Reader Fridah Karue, Auntie and a friend to many.

She touched countless lives with her kindness, strength and grace.

There will be a major fundraising in Kisumu for funeral expenses and outstanding medical bills on 15th July 2025 (Tuesday) from 2:00pm at Public Service Club Kisumu. Chief guest will be Kisumu County Dep Gov Dr. Hon. Mathews Owili assisted by other distinguished guests.

We will have a church service at St. Stephen’s cathedral on Friday 18th July 2025 from 9.30am. The cortege leaves for Yimbo on the same day followed by burial at his home in NyangeraVillage, Usigu sub county in Bondo on 19th July 2025 from 9.00am onwards.
