Son of the late Wallace Waruiru Kimata and the late Beth Kabura Waruiru. Son-in-law of John Kagia and Florentina Waithira. Husband of Cecelia Gathoni Kimata of Muya Primary Ndenderu. Father of Edwin Waruiru (Karatina University), Valentine Kabura (University of Nairobi), Donbosco Kagia (Njiiri School), Tekla Waithira and Viona Wanja(Muya Primary School). Brother of late Pauline Wanja Mwangi, Mary Njoki Kimani, Nancy Njahira, the late Martin Gakunga, Rosemary Keru, Daniel .M. Waruiru, Julius Njoroge and Brother-in-law of the Kagia’s. Uncle of Antony Waruiru,Thomas Waruiru among others. Cousin of Dr Kimata Mukui, Patrick Kimata, Francis Kimata, Dr Kimata Muoria, Kimata Ngumba, Maria Wanja, Elizabeth Njeri,Waithaka Mukui and the Gakunga’s.
