The K’Opere family of Kokal, Oyugis regret to announce the passing of their family matriach Mama Roda Awuor Oduo who rested peacefully at her home on 12/11/2025.

She was the wife of the late Mzee Azaria Oduo Opere and co-wife of the late Mama Nelly, Phoebe and the late Janet Oduo.

Daughter-in-law of the late Mzee Patroba Opere and Mama Elena Opere (Nyoduo). Marna Rodah.

Fondly known as Nyamalo or Nyorero was daughter of the late Mzee Philip Orero Oloo and the late Marn Persila Akech (Nyangwech) of Kakelo Dudi, Ogera (Bware AIC Church).

Mother of the late Bob, Tom K’Opere (Advocate) the late Sam, Erick, the lace Nick, the late Evans, Jeff Opere (USA), Ruth Oduo,Willis (Awilo), the late Douglas (Adago-Bishop), Caroline (Madhe), Tabitha (Mari), Philip (Doki-USA), Esther (Mummy) and Rebecca Ledama (USA). Mother-in-law of Claryce K’Opere (KPC), Joan K’Opere (SHA), Hon. Priscah Nyotah (Magistrate-NKU), Bernice Opere (USA), the late Alfred Ouko, Caro Katami (Nekesa), Ken Odego, George Alwala, Kevin Owuor and James Ledama (USA).

Mama Rodah was the sister of the late Nicanor Oloo, Joyce Akello Onyango (Nyakach), the late Alice Onunga (Nerea-Mirogi), Samson Angwech Orero, the late Beatrice Atieno Onyango (Kadem), Phoebe Oduo (Co-wife) and Peter Agola Orero (Raja) all of Kakello, Ogera, Bware AIC Church. Her other siblings were the families of Wilson Oloo’s, Martin Alaka’s, Christopher Oindi’s and Isaiah’s family all of Kokello.

In-law (Nyawana) of the Ongonga Sigar family (Uyoma) Arthur Kamau’s family (Muranga), Allan Nyota’s Family (Nyandarua/Eburu), Caleb Ouko’s Family (Karateng), Odego’s Family (Nyangiela),Alwala’s (Kamine), Owuor’s (Kamagambo) and the Ledama Family (Kilgoris).

Mama Rodah was the adored and loved grandmother of Beryl, Brett, Nelly, Bob (Kamash), Tom (Junior), Natalie, Sean, Baraka, Barry and Bill K’Opere; Eve, Kaisy, Ray, Reggie, Robin, Nick, Sheila, Savana, Nile, Nebert, Rodah, Phoebe, Ayana, Amara, Sharon, Joe, Jeiden, Liam, Londan and Leo Ledama among others.

Loving aunt of Dan Ouma, Prof.Ken Ogollah (UON), the Orero’s, Oloo’s, Alaka’s, Oindi’s, the larger Patroba Opere’s family and Omanya’s among many others.

Daily prayer meetings are being held at the family home in Oyugis.

There will be a funeral meeting at K’Opere’s residence in Kitengela (Rosewall Estate-off Balozi Road) on Saturday 22/11/2025 from 2.00pm and a second meeting at K’Opere’s residence in South C- opposite MOW Sports Club (Akiba II-House No. 134) on Sunday 23/11/2025 from 2.00pm.

The cortege will leave Kendu Adventist Mission Hospital Funeral Home, Gendia on Thursday 04/12/2025 at 1.00pm for a Funeral/Memorial Service at Atandi West SDA Church Oyugis from 2.00pm to 4.00pm and thereafter the cortege will lie in state at the family home for an overnight vigil of songs, praise and worship. Mama Rodah will be laid to rest next to her late husband Mzee Azaria Oduo Opere at the family home in Oyugis on Friday 05/12/2025 and the burial ceremony shall begin promptly at 10.00am led by Oyugis South District-Pastor Wycliffe Opere and officiated by Pastor Lewis Ondiek and Pastor Moses Oduma.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Refferal Hospital Mortuary on Friday 21/11/2025 at 7.00am. Burial service will be held at Kiangunyi Primary School starting at 10.00am and later interment will be at family home in Kiangunyi, muguru Location, Kangema, Murang’a.

Family and friends are meeting at All Saints’ Cathedral, Nairobi on Wednesday, 19th November, 2025 from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Maxwell was working with Amref Health Africa under the WaterStarters Project supporting Water Sanitation and Hygiene interventions in Kajiado and Makueni Counties.

Meetings are being held in Nairobi Syokimau and at Embonga Village Nyamira.

Burial will be held on 28th November 2025 at his rural home in Embonga Village, Mongorisi, Bogichora Ward, Nyamira County.

A memorial service in his honour shall be held on 26th November 2025 from 10.30 a m at the CITAM Valley Road Nairobi. All are welcome.

The cortege leaves Moi teaching and Referral hospital on Thursday 20/11/2025, for an overnight stay at his home Sokyot farm, Ng’enyilel Sub-Location, Chepkemel Location, Kipkaren Division, Nandi North. Funeral service and burial will take place on Friday 21/11/2025 at his residence Sokyot farm.

With profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of our beloved Mary Njeri Githinji, who left us on Thursday, 13th November 2025 while receiving treatment at Nairobi West Hospital. She was born on 25/12/1975 in Mukarara, Kihumbuini Location, Gatanga Sub County.

Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph Githinji Mukaru and Josephine Wanjiru Githinji.

She was the devoted wife of Zacharia Karanja Gitau and mother of Celestine Gitau Karanja and Victor Githinji Karanja.

She was a sister of Peter Mukaru, David Ngutho, Daniel Githiora, Simon Mburu, the late Isaac Karungu, Geoffrey Ngugi, James Gichungu, Florence Wanjiku, and Stephen Mureithi.

She was the daughter-in-law of the late Jacob Gitau and the late Eunice Wangui. Mary’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and the countless lives she has graced with love.
