He was the beloved son of Mr. Kaunda and Mrs. Martha Kaunda. Loving brother of Rachael and Albert. Cherished cousin of several dear relatives.

He was a treasured nephew of Murigu, Ndei, Wagate, Mugendi, Joseph, Alphonse, Calvince, Edward, Francis, George, Michael, Maurice, Patrick, Geoffrey, and Evance. Beloved nephew of aunties Susan, Lucy, Phoebe, Tabitha, and Christine.

Grandson of Hulda Awinda,Wandei, Priscah, Martha, the late Lorna, and Everlyne; and grandson of the late Mwalimu John Awinda Makawa, Peter Gichuki, Joseph Otieno, Peter, Alfred, Tom, and the late Cornel Makawa.

He hails from Kabor Village, Kajulu Sub-location, Gem Central Location, Homa Bay County.

The burial will take place on Friday, 24th October 2025, at heir family home in Asumbi, Homa Bay County.

The late Anthony Kamau Mwangi was beloved third born son of the late Phillip King’ongto Gachagwa and the late Bilha Wangu King’ong’o. He was a brother of the late George Muchemi, Simon Muriithi, Peter Wachira, the late Ann Wangui, the late Lawrence Ndungu, John Kinyua and Francis Kiiru.

Anthony was a loving husband of Catherine Wanjira Kamau and a caring father of Evelyn Wangu, Caroline Muthoni and Philip Mwangi.

He was a loved son In-law of the late Miano Gikandi and the late Wangui Miano.

He was the father In-law of Alvin Kimoita and Elizabeth Warnbui.

Babu was a dedicated grandfather, of Angela Wanjira, Idris Ndirangu, Nina Njeri, Sifa Musanga, Eliana Muthoni, Neema Wanjira, and Zion Kamau. He was a cherished uncle, cousin, nephew, brother inlaw, friend and father figure to many. He will be greatly missed.

Daily Funeral arrangements are been conducted at St Andrews Church Nairobi and at his Nanyuki home, Sirimon farm at Ngenia Njeru.

The burial will be held on Tuesday 28/10/2025, at his Sirimon farm Nanyuki. The cortege leaves Cottage hospital Nanyuki at 8.00am.

Barako was a son-in-law of Qato Qunya Bagaja and the late Qunyo Bagaja Qatamur, a cousin, nephew, brother-in-law and friend to many.

Barako served with distinction at the International Committee of the Rod Cross (ICRC) Kenya, where his compassion, quiet strength and steadfast commitment to humanitarian service left a lasting mark on colleagues and the communities he served.

A private burial has been held in honour of his dignified life. To celebrate Barako’s remarkable life, a requiem mass will be hold on Saturday, 25th October 2025 at 9.00am at St John the Evangelist Church, Karen.
