It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Elizabeth Njoki Mugwe which occurred on 13th September 2025.

Elizabeth was daughter of the late Macharia Kanjira and Gathoni Macharia of Muranga County, Kihuro Sub-county, Gathamba location, Gatheru sub location, Gatheru Village. She was sister of Beatrice Mugure Muraguri of Katarina.

She was the beloved mother of Mwathi (Eastleigh), Jennifer Mbatia (Umoja), the late Nelius, Grace (Eastleigh), Pastor ldah Mwangi, (Ruiru), Macharia Mugwe (ES KNUT, Nairobi Branch), Njeri Kamau (Kiambu High), Pastor Beatrice (Deliverance Church), Loise (Mombasa), Emily (Kiserean).

She was the mother-in-law of Ann Mwathi, Ephantus Mbatia, the late John Mwangi, Peter Kamau, Ann Njeri Macharia, Pastor Lazarus Gitonga and James Kinuthia Irungu.

Elizabeth Njoki was a loving aunt of Murage, the late Macharia, Mwaniki, Muthoni, Nduta, Mwangi, Wangeci, Maina and Machaga. She was a grandmother of 20 grandchildren and was honoured to see 11 of her great grandchildren.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University funeral home (Thika road) on 24th September 2025 at 7.00am for the funeral service at Gatheru Trinity Church- Murang’a at 11:00am.

We regret to announce the passing of our beloved George Gitogo Karungu (Sir George), who rested peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025, at his Lanet-Nakuru home, surrounded by family.

Beloved husband of Rachel Muthoni Gitogo and in-law of the Mathea Wanguirubi family.

He was the son of the late Karungu wa Gitogo (Kenyatta) and Wanjiru Njagi. He was step-son of Wairimu, Wambui, Njeri, and Wanjiku. Cherished brother of Wanjiku, Njeri, Mugure, and Wambui (all late); step brother of William Gitogo, Mukami, Jane Wanjiku, Isaac Gitogo, Wangeci, and Waitheru: the late Danson Ndwekia and late Peter Mwangi.

He was the loving father of Tom Mbuthia Gitogo (Britam) and Lydia, Catherine Wanjiru (Nakuru East Secondary) and Watoro, Serah Wangari (Ngukuni Special Unit, Makueni County), David Wainaina (Dagma) and Agnes, and Winrose Wanjiku (Nyandarua National Polytechnic).

He was a grandfather to many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at his Rurii home, Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County followed by burial thereafter at the same venue.

She was a cherished sister of the late Samuel Kamande, the late Michael Kimani, Margaret Wanjiru Maina, Jane Nduta Murigi, Mary Njoki Chege, Patrick Ngugi, Stanley Muregi, Francis Marubu and James Gichau.

She was the devoted wife of the late John Peter Mwangi and a loving mother of the late Winnie Wanjiku, Fr. Alexander Wainaina of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), Millicent Wangui, Patrick Chege, Rosettah Wangechi, Cyprian Githinji, Erasmus Munyua and Margaret Wanjiru. She was a grandmother and aunt to many.

Family and friends are meeting at her home in Kiboi Village, Kahuro, Murang’a.

The cortege will leave Muriranja’s Hospital Mortuary on Tuesday 23/9/2025 for a funeral service at Kiboi Catholic Church the same day at 11.00am, followed by burial at her home in Kiboi village.
